Celebrating its 23rd anniversary this year, The Krinos Taste of the Danforth is Canada’s largest street festival. Welcoming over 1.65 million attendees annually, the festival is filled with tons of food, free activities and live performances for all ages. The festival is taking place from August 5th to 7th this year. It was originally modelled after the largely successful “Taste of Chicago”, and began as a celebration of Greek heritage and multicultural nature of the city of Toronto.

With the various events happening, there is something for everyone enjoy. With multiple “tasting” tables available, there is a wide variety of food from a number of restaurants for festival go-ers to try out. When checking out the festival, experience being Greek for a day, by taking part in the old tradition of smashing plates or playing some archery. There will also be instructors teaching the Greek dance Zorba, and many Greek gods will be around visiting from Mount Olympus. The sports zone will feature interactive activities with Toronto’s professional sports teams including the Raptors, the Maple Leafs and the Argos. There are many live performances taking place throughout the festival. With three live stages including the Greek stage, the showcase stage and celebrity stage, there is always a show to check out. Some of the celebrity stage performers include Carmen Corcoz, Stacey Renee, and The Coppertones. There will also be fun for the little ones, with the Toronto Star Kids’ fun zone.
