THOMPSON TORONTO

Drake may be Toronto’s #6ix God, but there are also countless other celebrities who also love to visit Canada’s most populated city when looking for a relaxing escape from the red carpet. Live like showbiz’s most elite and visit Toronto’s hottest hangouts and most exclusive eateries. From five-star luxury hotels to incredible hotspot restaurants, here’s the lowdown on where you just might be able to rub elbows with Hollywood royalty. Although the glitzy Toronto International Film Festival doesn’t hit the city until September, try dropping by these chic and swanky destinations for a taste of local glamour.

Yorkville

Yorkville is Toronto’s original luxury enclave and has given way to designer boutiques, high end hotels, and exclusive restaurants that display a seemingly never-ending parade of brunch-goers and businesspeople.  Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, Yorkville serves as a peaceful escape surrounded by the bustling high-rise downtown jungle. The famously star-studded Sassafraz restaurant and luxury boutiques all tucked away in charming avenues are what attract celebrities to spend a relaxing afternoon there.  Drake’s condo is even located in Yorkville, so keep an eye out for Drizzy next time you’re in the area.

Thompson Hotel

Few spaces in Toronto are as glamorous as the rooftop bar and pool at Thompson Hotel. The incredible view of downtown Toronto skyline and sexy rooftop pool and lounge are selling points on their own, but with the potential to see stars like James Franco, Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde, it’s just an added bonus.

Soho House

The Soho House is one of the most exciting spots to check out your favourite stars. This club is ultra-exclusive, extremely hard to get into, and is the ultimate place to be during TIFF, holding countless after (and after-after) parties for the biggest names in Hollywood. Every star that rolls into town for TIFF seems to end up at the house, even making it hard for members to get in. Last year the place was studded with stars such as Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Jon Stewart, and Cara Delevingne.

Momofuku

Inside the star-studded Shangri-La Hotel, Momofuku is the product of world-redounded celebrity chef David Chang and is a popular spot for stars to explore their whole pallet with a diverse selection of food. The Momofuku complex has three levels for celebs to explore. On the first is noodle bar with Asian street food inspired dishes, the second level houses Nikai for drinks and Celebrity baker Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar for dessert, and the third has Daisho for large meat platters and Shoto for fancy tasting menus. Spotted celebs include Robert Downey Jr., Tina Fey, and Lupita Nyong’o.
