Sometimes it seems like all of the best beauty innovations start in the UK. Now a UK airport has come up with a smart plan to help vacationers look like a million bucks before they even leave the country. People flying out of Gatwick Airport will have the option of getting a free spray tan before they jet off to their destination, so they don’t have to worry about looking so white.
This beauty idea started because so many travellers are uncomfortable about looking too white on the beach on vacation.
Gatwick Glow is the new partnership between the airport and St Tropez to boost vacationers’ confidence before they hit the beach. Offering this service for free is just an added bonus to get you to that airport.
We love the idea, but we have one question. Would the spray tan come off on your clothes during a long flight? It would be even worse to arrive at your destination with half a tan and dirty clothes.

Vogue Japan editor Anna Dello Russo’s new fragrance Beyond will be on shelves in time for Christmas. The fashion news editor announced on her blog that the Beyond fragrance will be on sale in a unique little golden shoe bottle in time for girls to get it in their stockings. There is also an ad for the vanilla fragrance that shows off the golden bottle in all its girly glory.
We told you before that Natalie Portman was the new face of Dior fragrances, now beauty news sites have uncovered that Natalie is filming the first commercial for Dior fragrances in Paris with director Sofia Coppola. Sofia Coppola directed the previous ad for the Dior Miss Dior Cherie fragrance, so it’s not surprising they returned to her.
Beyonce is launching another celebrity fragrance. This time Beyonce’s Ultimate Elixir will be tempting fragrance fans. Beyonce Heat Ultimate Elixir is a spin on her original fragrance. Beauty news stories say the new fragrance will be more ‘intimate’ than the punchy scent of Heat. The new Beyonce fragrance will be in stores in September.

First we had snake venom and now celebrities in the UK are moving on to a new craze to keep their beauty in fine form. Bee venom is the latest beauty breakthrough to hit the market promising to keep your skin looking young.
A company in the UK, Heaven Skin Care, has been gaining some high profile clients who want to use the new bee venom products. The most popular of the bee venom skin care products is a Bee Venom Mask that gently stings your skin causing your muscles to strengthen and wrinkle reduction. The description sound frightening, but they claim that the bee venom mask isn’t actually painful. They say it is more like a tingling sensation as blood and nutrients flow to the skin.
This beauty news story about the beauty breakthrough claims that is you use it twice a day you can take up to ten years off of your skin.
You can buy the Bee Venom Mask from UK creator Deborah Mitchell online for 55 pounds. It works for the likes of celebrity beauties Dannii Minogue, Gwyneth Paltrow and Michelle Pfeiffer.

A new eerie beauty breakthrough is giving women another alternative to going under the knife for a facelift. The vampire facelift, or Selphyl, uses your own blood to give your skin the boost you’ve been looking for.
For the vampire facelift, a doctor removes your blood, mixes your red platelet with a fibrin mixture and then re-injects it into the area you want boosted. The doctors over inject the area giving you the fuller face you were looking for without any surgery. Selphyl is more like getting collagen filler than a facelift but the vampire facelift is a lot catchier.
Doctors who perform the procedure say there are a number of pluses to Selphyl including: limited bruising, gives a more subtle effect and there is no risk of infection since you are using your own blood. The effects are supposed to last for about 15 months.
The Selphyl procedure is only to be used on small areas and reduce fine lines. So if you are looking for a major beauty transformation this system isn’t for you.
According to this beauty news story, some doctors are waiting to see the long term results before adding it to their repertoire. Some are concerned about the people who get dizzy after having blood taken. It will be even worse for those of us who get queasy at the site of blood. Regardless of the caution of the new cosmetic procedure, Marie Claire magazine already named the procedure one of the best beauty innovations of 2010.
A vampire facelift costs about $1,100 to $1,500 per injection. It seems costly, but when compared to plastic surgery it’s quite affordable.

For our latest beauty review, the girls in our Real Style Network office tried out the whole range of new Degree Natureffects Deodorant. We told you about this deodorant back when it launched, and finally have a chance to see if it lives up to the hype.
Degree released the Natureffects products in three natural scents, including honeysuckle and tea tree oil and the fruity orange flower and cranberry. They even went so far to work with Ann Gottlieb, who has created scents for Marc Jacobs and Dior. At first sniff we weren’t impressed. They smelled good, but not like deodorant. We found the smells were too overpowering for something we didn’t want to think about. We like our deodorant to smell pretty sure, but not to overpower our perfume. These scents would have been much better suited to a body spray, which they actually do have, but not in Canada.
One of our Real Style Beauty testers also found that the Degree Natureffects deodorant left marks on her clothing. That is a big downside for the deodorant, but she said she would still use it because it smelled good and did the job.
Overall though, the deodorants do work. So whether Degree changes the scent a little bit, you know it is still going to do its job.
If you want to try out the strong smelling Degree Natureffects you can pick it up at drugstores and other beauty retailers for around $3.99. For now you will have to travel to the US to get the body mist, a trip we just might be willing to make.

It may have taken a long time, but CoverGirl has finally listened to the demand of their customers and created new concealer shades of makeup for women with darker skin tones.
The CoverGirl Queen Collection concealer is made up of a line of yellow based darker concealers for ladies who need a darker shade of makeup to match their skin tone. The makeup comes in four dark shades an espresso, caramel, honey and bronze tones.
This is just the latest addition to the Natural Hue makeup line that includes darker shades of foundation and powder.
With concealer being such a common makeup product, we are surprised it took them this long to get one on the shelves. We are sure women are going to be snatching it up quickly.

A study has revealed that smoking isn’t just a bad habit because of the risks of cancer, yellow teeth and the bad smell. Now smoking has been linked to adult acne, giving you skin care fanatics another healthy reason to butt out.
A study published in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology revealed that women who smoke have higher cases of acne as an adult. Blackheads and bumps were more prevalent with women smokers than all others who didn’t.
After doing the study a doctor involved commented on the skin care effects this study could have. She said, “We will need more products with Vitamin A and alpha and beta hydroxyl-acids to clear the skin along with exfoliating products.”
So smokers with skin care issues should look at exfoliating more often to keep their skin clear. But if you are concerned about your skin care health though, your best bet is just to quit smoking.

Here is a look at the fragrance beauty news of the week:
Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen is adding “face of Galliano” to her resume. The young Gossip Girl has been chosen to be the face of the new John Galliano fragrance. The yet to be named fragrance will launch this fall so look for images of Taylor Momsen to be released soon.
Next month Lanvin will propose to the world with their new fragrance. Marry Me by Lanvin, a new women’s fragrance, is ready to be released at the end of August. The name is said to be a celebration of happiness. Overall it is a jasmine scent aimed at young ladies aged 20 to 28. Marry Me by Lanvin starts at $48.83 when it hits shelves.
Chloe is also launching a romantic fragrance next month. Love, Chloe will be on fragrance shelves at the end of August. The new Love, Chloe fragrance is a take on the rose scent of the original Chloe fragrance launched a few years back. The fragrance will be in all Chloe markets by February next year. Expect to see the commercial directed by Roman Coppola on television soon.

We asked our dental expert Dr. Chase about different procedures that can get your teeth looking perfect.
I have heard a lot about Invisalign. How do they work? How long do they need to be used each day?
Invisialign is a virtually invisible series of custom fit aligners that move teeth from their current crooked position to an ideal straight position. In order for the aligners to work you have to wear them 20-22 hours a day except when eating and brushing.
I desperately want to try porcelain veneers. I love the look! My front teeth have a small gap and I want my teeth whiter. Will porcelain veneers help with these problems?
Porcelain veneers are a great way to close spaces, sometimes requiring very little tooth preparation at all. They are also a great way to change the color, shape, and size to the teeth you have always dreamed of.
Is teeth whitening (professional and at-home) safe during pregnancy?
My own wife (mother of 2 soon to be 3) was sad to learn that whitening during pregnancy or breast feeding is not recommended.

Eos lip balm is a favourite of many of our readers, so we wanted to try out this beauty product for ourselves to see if it really was the amazing beauty find we heard it was.
At first look the Eos Lip Balm Smooth Sphere is possibly the cutest little beauty product we’ve ever seen. The little round case is unique and unexpected. Your friends are going to ask you what it is and if they can try it once they see you pull this little lip balm out of your purse.
The second unexpected part of the Eos Lip Balm is the smell. We tried out the new Lemon Drop SPF 15 lip balm and it smelled like dessert. Every time we put it to our lips we thought of lemon meringue pie. Delicious!
It smelled so good, we almost forgot about all of the great aspects of it. The EOS Lip Balm is 100% natural and 95% organic. The added SPF 15 to the lemon drop is perfect for the summer when you sometimes forget to protect your lips.
This is one beauty find that we at Real Style Network are glad we found.

We hear about a lot of radical beauty breakthroughs from around the world, that aren’t available here because they haven’t been approved. Our beauty breakthroughs team has found a liposuction alternative, Cool Sculpting, that is available in Canada now.
Cool Sculpting is a new process that helps people who are otherwise fit get rid of those last few bits of fat lingering around. This isn’t for people who are looking at serious liposuction and tummy tucks, but those who wish they could get rid of that one little problem area. It’s an alternative to going under the knife.
In essence Cool Sculpting uses a machine that cools and crystallizes your fat helping to eliminate it from your body. Without being a doctor, we aren’t exactly sure why this system works (or why if it’s that easy it hasn’t been done years before now). The whole thing takes up to three hours and they say you should start seeing results in three weeks. There’s no cutting or prodding involved and zero recovery time.
There are centers across Canada using Cool Sculpting as an alternative to liposuction including with our very own expert Dr. Nowell Solish.

Our curly haired girls on the Real Style Network beauty team are always on the hunt for the perfect straightener. Three of them got a chance to try the Straight & Curl 2 in 1 Ceramic Curling Iron from Rowenta Beauty to see if it was the one we had been looking for. This is the hair care company who did all of the great looks backstage at Toronto Fashion Week so we had high expectations. Here is our beauty review:

At first look, we were skeptical of the Rowenta Beauty iron. We didn’t think the straightener was up to the challenge of our thick hair. But the unique designer of a straighener plus curling iron made us excited for the possibilities.
Despite our fears, our hair came out just as smooth and straight as if we had done it at home. Even though the straightener is small, it does have enough power to be able to do your hair in the same amount of time. The heat is perfect to manage even the toughest curls. The addition of a curling iron on the end means that you can curl your ends easily to get a new look.
The Rowenta Beauty straightener’s biggest strengths are also it’s flaws though. Because of the curling iron on the outside, you cannot get a good grip on the straightener. Since it is small, the curling portion of the iron only allows you to grab a small portion of hair at a time. If you have thin hair that is ok, but for us girls with thick locks, we could be there all day.
In the end though for a straightener, it’s all about getting the job done. It may have been a little difficult to maneuver for a newcomer to the Rowenta Straightener, but her hair came out soft and straight.

If we said Angelina Jolie what would you think of? Her hot hubby Brad Pitt? Maybe her ever growing family? Or is it those big luscious lips that beauty fans (and men) have been adoring from afar since we first spotted her on the big screen.
Angelina Jolie’s beauty is going to go down in the history books. Her lips are the stuff dreams are made of. With her new movie Salt in theatres today, every beauty blog is talking about how Angelina Jolie’s lips stay so glossy in the movie.
It’s created so much buzz that Salt makeup artist Tonni G has revealed the secret makeup product to Angelina Jolie’s lips in Salt. He used Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in a pale pink shade called Charm for the movie.
Now we just need our lips to be the same size as Angelina Jolie’s to get her beauty.

As if there aren’t enough already, Katy Perry is joining the beauty aisles with a new celebrity fragrance: the perfectly named Purr by Katy Perry.
This November the new Purr by Katy Perry fragrance will be joining the realms of celebrity fragrances. Like Katy Perry, the fragrance bottle hopes to stand out on shelves in its purple cat shape and jewel eyes.
Katy Perry said in an interview she has about 50 different fragrances at home (including celebrity fragrances) and she wanted her’s to be different. There have been hints, but no real news as to what the fragrance smells like just yet.
The Katy Perry fragrance has been in the works for the past year. She said her beauty idol, Gwen Stefani, inspired her to move forward in the beauty world.
The new fragrance will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom according to beauty news source WWD. The Katy Perry fragrance will be on sale starting for $36 in November. A body lotion and bubble bath will follow soon after.
While we getting a little sick of all of the celebrity fragrances on the line, Katy Perry’s bubbly personality makes us curious to know what her fragrance would smell like.
