Household Bills You Can Negotiate

There’s no doubt that money is tight for many of us. Both 2020 and 2021 have been challenging for so many and it could be some time before things dramatically improve. One area worth of stress-relief worth exploring is regular household bills. We often pay these regular bills without thinking too much about it, but some can often be modified or negotiated. See below for some of our top household bills you should consider negotiating.

1. TV Cable, Streaming, etc. – Before you know it, you can be paying for cable and a variety of streaming services without realizing how these costs add up. Consider what you actually watch on a regular basis. Cut what you don’t need and call your provider to modify whatever services you feel you don’t use to their full capacity.

2. Insurance (Home, Auto) – Monitor these policies and compare prices with competitors. You might be able to get comparable coverage at a reduced rate.

3. Credit Cards – Having trouble paying minimum balances or just want to reduce some costs? Consider switching card types (i.e., fee-based to no-fee) or even asking for a transfer to a different card with a lower interest rate.

4. Cell Phones – It can be time-consuming and sometimes frustrating, but negotiating your current plan or changing your plan my be worth the hassle. You can save both time and money in the long run.  Determine what you really need (and use) in a phone and call your provider.
