Home Decor Changes To Make During Your Isolation

Let’s face it, many of us just don’t have the time to make even the most minor of changes to our homes. When we’re not working, we want to spend our time relaxing or with our families. And now that we have the time, we can’t go out to the store to get that new shade of paint or pick up that new couch we’ve had our eyes on for a long time. There are things however we can do, with the tools we have at home, and now that we have the time we can give our homes that fresh, new look we’ve been wanting.

Get Rid of the Clutter: Even though we can’t really leave our homes, we can clean the place up a bit. You’d be surprised how much cleaning up the scraps of paper that have gathered on our desks, or throwing out books or DVDs we will never read or watch again, will help. This also goes for old clothing, towels, sheets, pillows or anything else you’ve tossed in a corner or a closet and forgotten about.

Wall Decorating: So many of us put up pictures or posters in our homes, and leave them there until the end of time. Why is this? Well simply put it easier to leave them there then it is finding the time to move them around. Well now you’ve got the time to give them a new place or arrangement on your walls. Sure, you won’t be able to buy any new frames or prints at this time, but a lot of us have frames sitting in a corner somewhere gathering dust, and photos we’ve left in the sleeves they came in after we had them printed out. Even if you don’t have either, putting them in different places will give you a new appreciation for them.

Re-arranging Your Furniture: When you first move into a place, you generally place your furniture how you think it will work best, and after a couple of days of shifting things around a bit, you leave them alone. Depending on how long it’s been since you moved or bought new furniture, they’ve probably stayed there for awhile. Well now is your chance to give things a different look and feel. Try moving your bed to a different corner, or your TV against a different wall. You will be surprised by how well you know your place after having been there for awhile, and you might just find a new arrangement that makes things seem a bit more spacious and comfortable.

Closet / Cupboard Cleaning: Some of this can be included in getting rid of the clutter, after all you’ve probably hidden things you don’t need or use and completely forgotten about them, but even if that’s not the case, you’ll be surprised by how much space you’ve wasted. Things can always be stacked differently, or put away better. Clothes, sheets and towels can always be folded better too. You might just find you have more space that you thought.

Finish Home Renovation Projects: Guys, you might not want to hear this right now, but you know the projects you’ve started and never finished, well you now have the time to finally get them done. Sometimes it’s little things like fixing a door or hanging something on the wall, and other times it could be a whole big project that you bought everything for but never finished (like that bath renovation that’d been on the go for years.) Let’s face it, doing the work now instead of spending your entire time sitting in front of the TV sounds a lot less of a job than it did even a few weeks doesn’t it?
