London Fashion Week Spring 2019 Best Looks
Recently, the London Fashion Week catwalks became home to some stunning sartorial statements from a variety of both British and international designers. With the Spring 2019 shows in London officially wrapping up yesterday, the LFW runways showcased a variety of trends for the season ahead. From elegance at Erdem to classic Brit fashion at Burberry, here’s our roundup of the top runway looks from London Fashion Week.
Turkish Canadian designer Erdem Moralioglu is London based, and has become a fixture on the British runways. Staying true to his love of quaint, vintage fashion, the talented design star unveiled a new Victorian style collection. Models marched along the catwalk wearing rich velvet brocade jackets, coats and skirts, in shades of vibrant blue and yellow. Meanwhile, skirts and dresses adorned with swirling patterns and puffed sleeves also left their mark. For a more contemporary take, oversized boxy blazers, loose trousers and flowing sheer frocks also made an entrance.
Burberry’s new chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci presented his Kingdom collection, which included pieces that were placed under the different categories of Refined, Relaxed, and Evening. At Burberry, the classic beige trench coat was updated with thick belts, while leather pencil skirts, pleated khakis and pussybow blouses brought business casual vibes to the runway. The classic Burberry print made its way onto silky shirts, while leopard prints and girlish ruffles added visual interest.
Victoria Victoria Beckham
Designer Victoria Beckham presented her 10th anniversary show at London Fashion Week, and marked a decade of her eponymous label with bold tie-dye sections and plenty of crisp creamy pieces. From off-white pantsuits to pleated trousers and draped dresses, Beckham proved that basic white has endless possibilities. Meanwhile, orange and blue tie-dye sections brought a funky effect to knit sweaters and sleeveless dresses. Beckham also brightened up her collection with splashy prints, kimono tops and airy skirts.
Simone Rocha revealed a Chinese inspired collection with plenty of exotic, Eastern influences. From playful usage of bright red to delicate black lace and dainty florals, her design aesthetic for Spring 2019 was feminine and lightweight. Sheer fabrics, dresses with embroidered details and elaborate puffed sleeves created a free-spirited, ethereal feel on the catwalk.
