Henry Cavill To Star In Netflix Series The Witcher

Henry Cavill is heading back to TV, as it was announced that he is set to play the lead role on the upcoming Netflix series The Witcher.

Cavill last appeared in a TV series when The Tudors ended in 2010, and since then he has made quite the name for himself on the big screen in such films as Man of Steel, and this year’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout. For The Witcher he will play the lead role, that of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who roams the countryside by himself. He struggles with his profession, especially after discovering that some of the monsters he is hunting are as human as he is.

The Witcher originated as a series of short stories published in the 1980s, but has since found renewed life thanks in part to a novel published in 2013, as well as a popular video game series.

The big questions fans of Cavill are asking though, is what does this mean for his role as Superman? The Witcher is a big budget series after all, and will take time to film. Man of Steel 2 was scheduled to start production sometime soon, but with this news it may indicate that it was been pushed off. The DC Universe series of movies have long been criticized for being weaker than the Marvel movies, in that they are too dark and just not as good. Cavill last appeared as Superman in 2017’s Justice League.
