Late Comedian Garry Shandling’s Twitter Account Revived

Comedian Garry Shandling may have passed away in 2016, but his Twitter account is still alive and active. And it’s all thanks to his friends.

On Friday, after a two year hiatus, @GarryShandling suddenly tweeted, “Friends who love Garry, working with his estate, are opening up Garry’s twitter. We will occasionally tweet material from the writings, notes and journals he has left us: “Let life live through you. Presence. Compassion. Kindness.””

That particular Tweet has been pinned to the top of the Twitter feed, and several jokes have followed. A link to the HBO website promoting Judd Apatow’s new Shandling documentary “The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling” has also been tweeted. The documentary takes a look at Shandling’s life and career, and made it’s premiere on March 26th, which happened to be a couple of days after the two year anniversary of his death. Apatow spent a year searching through footage for the film, and editing it together.

If anything, this revival proves that even after death social media can help people live on. Shandling was best known for not only his stand-up work, but for his two hit TV series’ “The Garry Shandling Show” and “The Larry Sanders Show”.
