Avengers: Infinity War Shatters Box Office Records
It’s said that records are made to be broken, and they weren’t kidding. Back in 2015 when Star Wars: The Force Awakens set a domestic box office record with a $247.9 million opening people thought it would last for awhile. In the end however it only ended up lasting for less than two and a half years. And that’s not the only record the film took.
The Avengers flick also took the recording for the biggest International opening of all time as well, with $630 million. It is worth noting however that it didn’t break the record $443 million international debut of 2017’s Fate of the Furious. It fell well short of that with only $380 million. Other domestic records claimed by Infinity War include the largest single Saturday gross, largest single Sunday gross, largest April opening, largest Spring opening and fastest film to $150, $200 and $250 million.
And if you think those numbers are staggering, you’ll want to note that the 19 Marvel Cinematic Universe films have earned nearly $15.5 billion combined.
The records should continue to come as well, as the film will open in China on May 11th, and none of the films opening this weekend will take audiences away from watching it. The weekend of May the 13th may see that change however when another movie based on a Marvel comic book is released, Deadpool 2. While it is expected to do well, it’s numbers should break the records the Avengers: Infinity War just claimed.
