Bruno Mars Wins The Top Awards At The 2018 Grammy Awards

JAY-Z may have come into the 2018 Grammy’s with the most nominations, but it was Bruno Mars who walked away with the most statues.

Mars’ R&B inspired album 24K Magic won the superstar six trophies altogether, which was the exact same number he had been nominated for. He swept the top awards for Album, Song (That’s What I Like), and Record of the Year. Kendrick Lamar was next with five trophies, including Best Rap Album, and Chris Stapleton won three, including Best Country album. JAY-Z had eight nominations going in, but took home no statues. To say it was a disappointing night for JAY-Z would be putting it mildly, who, along with Kendrick Lamar, was looking to become the first rapper to win song or record of the year.

Canadians also won big at the Grammy awards, including Alessia Cara who became the first Canadian to ever win the Best New Artist award. “Thank you to my parents and my brother for believing in me,” she said. she also urged the crowd to “support real music and real artists because everyone deserves the same shot” during her speech. The Weeknd won Best Urban Contemporary Album, while Leonard Cohan won for Best Rock Performance for his hit You Want It Darker.
