Even if you’re not a die-hard sports fanatic yourself, you may be joining your friends, family and significant other today as the anticipation of the Super Bowl 50 officially hits the small screen. Whether you’re watching the Big Game from the comforts of home or over beers at your favourite sports bar, you may want to channel your inner football fan just for today. Luckily for anyone who isn’t overly familiar with the sport but aiming to soak up the energy of the championship game, here is Real Style’s official Girls’ Guide to the Super Bowl 50.

The Super Bowl 50 will pit the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos, with 26-year-old Panthers quarterback Cam Newton set to face 39-year-old Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. According to NFL.com, Newton has been titled the NFL’s Most Valuable Player (or MVP).

For anyone who is simply tuning in for the hotly awaited halftime show, this year’s celebrity appearances are set to include performances from British band Coldplay and crooner Bruno Mars. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Artpop diva Lady Gaga is expected to perform the American national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.

Staying true to the star-studded spirit in the air, Beyoncé is set to grace the stage tonight for her fourth official Super Bowl halftime appearance. According to sports website SBNation.com, the 7/11 diva last headlined at the Super Bowl 47 in 2013, while Bruno Mars performed at the Super Bowl 48 in 2014. Will the two stars live up to their previous halftime appearances? Fans will have to keep their eyes (and ears) open during tonight’s Big Game to find out.

Of course, you may also want to keep score and tuck into a plate of tempting nachos as you sport your team colours with pride. Although you may not be cheering from the stands yourself, there’s no question that it’s officially “game on” tonight!
