Oscar Winning Actor Jamie Foxx Saves Man From Burning Vehicle
Jamie Foxx has had many titles throughout his life, actor, singer, comedian, and now he can add hero to the mix after he helped an off-duty paramedic save a man from a burning car.
On Monday night a single vehicle crashed near the actor’s home in Hidden Valley, California. The car apparently hit a ditch and flipped upside down, before catching fire with the occupant trapped inside. Foxx feared the burning car would explode, so he rushed to the scene where he was joined by an off-duty paramedic. The paramedic broke the window, cut the man’s seatbelt, and helped Foxx pull the man away from the accident.
Foxx told reporters that he heard the crash from his house, and before rushing to the scene he called 911. The vehicle burst into flames seconds after the man was rescued.
Jamie Foxx won an Oscar in 2005 for his role in the film Ray, where he played musician Ray Charles. He’s also starred in action movies like Django Unchained and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but don’t go calling him a hero. He told reporters that he doesn’t view his actions as heroic. He views it more of just having to do something about a bad situation.
Foxx later posted a photo on Instagram where he met the fatherof the man he saved. He captioned it “Met the father of the young man from last night today. This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.”
The driver of the vehicle suffered broken bones and a punctured lung in the accident, but is expected to survive.
