Find Out Who Is On The Star Wars’ Han Solo Spinoff Shortlist

Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to be a huge box office success, but that doesn’t mean the franchise is taking any time to catch their breath. Later on this year Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released, followed closely by episode 8 of the main series in 2017, and after that in 2018 we will be getting a Han Solo stand alone prequel. Of course there has been a lot of debate on who should and will be playing the young Han Solo, and yesterday Variety learned just who is on Disney and Lucasfilm’s shortlist.

Sources told Variety that execs went through thousands of actors, and cut the list down to about a dozen actors. The list includes Fantastic Four star Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort of The Fault Is In Our Stars, James Franco’s younger brother Dave, Transformer’s actor Jack Reynor, Clint’s son Scott Eastwood, Fury actor Logan Lerman, Brooklyn star Emory Cohen and Everybody Wants Some actor Blake Jenner. The oldest actor on the list is Scott Eastwood, who is 29, with the rest of them between the ages of 20 to 25.

It’s expected that the actors will begin screen testing for the role soon, and a decision should be made in a couple of weeks. Although the Han Solo movie won’t begin shooting until January 2017, the rush decision is rumoured to have something to do with Han Solo possibly appearing in the Rogue One film in some capacity of another. Rogue One will be wrapping up shooting within the next month.

The untitled Han Solo film is set to be released on May 25, 2018.
