Watch The Video For Adele’s New Single Hello
It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since Adele sang the theme song to the James Bond movie Skyfall, and over four years since her last record 21 was released. Yesterday she made her return by releasing not only her first single, but her first music video since 2011, the latter of which has several Canadian connections.
The video for Hello is the first music video to be filmed on IMAX cameras, a technology developed in Canada. Not only that though, but it was directed by Canadian wunderkind filmmaker Xavier Dolan in Montreal. As good as the video is though, it’s the music that matters most.
The song is about a failed relationship, and Adele picking up the pieces afterwards. Like her typical lyrics, the song is full of emotion, and with her powerful voice mixed with the strong instrumental score, you can’t help but feel wrapped up in it. It’s the first single off her new album 25, which is set to be released on November 20th.
Adele had previously stated that 25 would be a make-up record, but really this first single sounds a lot like her previous body of work. The 27 year old singer told BBC Radio 1 on Friday morning that “I felt like I was never going to finish this record. It was a long process. I wanted to give up a lot because I couldn’t do it. I thought I’d run out of ideas and I’d lost my ability to write a song.”
