Bill Murray To Appear In Ghostbusters Reboot
Dr. Peter Venkman is back, and Bill Murray is playing him. There has been a lot of speculation on whether or not the remaining stars of the original Ghostbusters series would appear in Paul Feig’s reboot, and now it has been confirmed that Bill Murray is making an appearance. Does that mean Dan Aykroyd won’t be far behind?
The Ghostbusters all female reboot has had fans of the series wondering how the original films from the 80s would fit into the new reboot, and now at least they know it won’t be a total reboot. Bill Murray has long been the hold out from planned sequels, stating in the past that he was always hesitant to do a second sequel because Ghostbusters II wasn’t as well received as the first movie. There had been rumors for years that a third movie was in the works, but it always seemed like Bill Murray was the reason it wasn’t going to happen. Then after Harold Ramis passed away in 2014 fans knew it wouldn’t happen at all. Then a reboot was a announced, starring an all-female cast, and fans started wondering again if Murray would somehow be involved. Now they have to wonder no longer. Although there has been no word on how big, or small, the role would be, words of Murray’s involvement has the internet buzzing. And of course fans are now wondering if Dan Aykroyd will be the next announced return.
Director Paul Feig’s film, which is currently shooting in Boston, stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth, and hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
