Watch The First Trailer For Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

When Wet Hot American Summer premiered in 2001 it didn’t do very well, but it gained popularity during its home video release and quickly became a cult hit. With a cast that included a young Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Janeane Garofalo it’s not surprising why. A sequel had been talked about for years, but nothing ever came of it.  Then Netflix came along and created a prequel series called First Day Of Camp, and brought back the original cast for the ride. And now we have our first glimpse into the series premiering on July 31st thanks to the trailer released yesterday.

The trailer for the eight-episode Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp prequel is made to look like a promo video for Camp Firewood. And not just any promo video, it looks like a promo on a well-worn VHS tape. You’ll see clips with Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, as well as several newcomers. The trailer is meant to make the camp look enticing (including the announcement of having a gourmet chef), with the cast having fun and enjoying their time. It’s got us curious how the series is going to play out, and counting down the time until July 31st.
