Leighton Meester’s New Song Will Pull At Your Heartstrings
Leighton Meester is best known for her iconic role on hit TV show Gossip Girl, but she is now so much more than her character Blair Waldorf! Leighton is at the top of her game, just releasing a new album on Monday as well as landing the cover of Nylon Magazine’s November issue.
Yesterday Meester released her debut music video for her single “Heartstrings,” which is also the title of the album. You can watch it below.
“The song ‘Heartstrings’ is really special to me,” Meester told Us Magazine. “It’s really more of a very visual: It represents the feeling of the rest of the record. It’s about hiding your feelings and smiling and pretending that you’re happy when you’re not. Actually, I’d say that it represents most of the record, because that’s what it’s about. It’s about just sort of tying your heartstrings off — not allowing yourself to be vulnerable.”
Her new album takes a jump to a different genre, abandoning the dance-pop sound she had in 2009. Meester’s Heartstings has more of an “adult alternative” sound to her long-delayed album. Many of the songs on her new album stem from painful breakups from the past
The singer recently tied the knot with actor Adam Brody earlier this year and already wants to start a family. “Most people I know are starting to get married. It’ll be kids next. I like the grown-up stuff,” she told Nylon.
