Sandra Bullock Almost Quit Acting

Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock was tempted to quit acting after her highly publicized split from TV personality Jesse James in 2010.

“I was perfectly content to be permanently broken,” Bullock told The Associated Press,  “I honestly didn’t think I was in a place where I wanted to work or wanted to step out of where I was… I wasn’t prepared. But the opportunity (to work again) was louder than my head.”

The actress hadn’t even considered a new role after winning the Best Actress trophy for 2009’s The Blind Side.  She credits director Stephen Daldry for getting her out of her funk and back in front of the camera.

“We had a great time. It’s no longer ‘selfish actress’ in the moment,” Bullock says. “I wanted to have an amazing time with him and, fortunately, Mr. Daldry presented it. In every possible way, it was the best!”

Daldry’s movie, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close has opened in limited release in Canada and the US so it may be considered for the upcoming Oscars, but it doesn’t open wide until January 20th.
