Toronto International Film Festival Announces 2011 Films

The Toronto International Film Festival, or TIFF as it is more commonly known, has announced their line-up for this year.  The event kicks off on September 8th and runs for 11 days.  Like previous years, there are a lot of big name films making their premiere.

This year you’ve got Brad Pitt’s baseball movie Moneyball, which depicts the true story of Oakland A’s General Manager Billy Beane as he tries to field a winning team in the early 2000’s; 50/50, a comedy about one man’s fight against cancer starring Seth Rogan and Joseph Gordon-Levitt; George Clooney’s latest film called The Descendants where he stars as a land baron trying to reconnect with his daughters after his wife is involved in an accident; Butter, a story about a girl who has a talent for carving butter starring Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner; an Irish period piece called Albert Noobs starring Glenn Close and Jonathon Rhys Meyers; David Cronenburg’s latest called A Dangerous Method; as well as a murder mystery from Francis Ford Coppola called Twixt.

The opening film this year is the U2 documentary From the Sky Down.  It’s the first time a documentary has opened the festival.
