Jojo Rabbit Wins TIFF 2019’s People’s Choice Award

TIFF 2019’s People’s Choice award winner was difficult to call. On one hand several of the top films, including Joker, were dark and audience reactions were mixed at best. Then there were fan favourites like A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which while good, seemed a little bit too conventional. In the end of though, it was director Taika Waititi’s dark Nazi Germany-set “anti-hate satire,” Jojo Rabbit that brought home the award, and will probably be one of the most talked about films from now until awards season.

Hustlers Doesn’t Quite Find Its Way

Hustlers has all the ingredients to be a great movie, including an impressive cast, good back story and amazing publicity. Disney Streaming Service Set To Launch This Fall

Disney announced yesterday that they will launch their streaming service, Disney Plus, on November 12, starting with the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands, with Australia and New Zealand coming a week later. The Disney Plus app will be available on Apple, Google, Microsoft, Roku and Sony, with more distributors set for the near future. Disney also announced that the service will be available in all major markets within the first two years, but didn’t give any specifics on when it can be expected elsewhere.
