Whether she’s on screen as Lou Fleming on Heartland or away from the set, the 35-year-old Canadian star can be spotted by her glowing skin and luxurious locks. We spoke to the Heartland bombshell about her secrets for staying gorgeous, along with her tricks for embracing subdued beauty when she’s off-duty.

Watch Season 10 of Heartland on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on CBC.

Real Style: What are your five favourite beauty products?

Michelle: 1. Kiehl’s Facial Moisturizer

  1. Philosophy Turbo Booster C Powder mixed with natural Jojoba oil
  2. Olive Oil. I put it on the ends of my hair before I shampoo
  3. La Roche-Posay Tinted Mineral Sunscreen and La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging Primer With Sunscreen
  4. Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection

Real Style: Describe your skincare regimen for a flawless complexion.

Michelle: I always wash my face with really cold water in the morning. I love using a Vitamin C powder mixed with Jojoba oil on my skin first, followed by my moisturizer and always sunscreen. The best thing for my skin is sleep and a silk pillow case. I also like doing Microdermabrasion every couple months and I exfoliate with a Stri-Vectin grainy exfoliator twice a week.

Real Style: What are your tricks for healthy hair?

Michelle: I drench the ends in olive oil before I shampoo. It leaves my hair so soft and protected.

Real Style: How do you stay fit and active with such a busy schedule?

Michelle: I prioritize getting exercise. It’s important for my mental and physical well-being. I run, do Lagree, lift weights, hot yoga and use the elliptical machine. I like to mix it up. I generally do cardio two to three times and week and a hard workout two to three times a week.

Real Style: What sets your Heartland beauty look apart from your off-screen beauty look?

Michelle: They are nothing alike. People have to understand that women on TV generally sit through one to two hours of hair and makeup. By the time those magicians are done, we always look stunning no matter how tired we are. In real life I keep it super simple. I style my hair with a curling iron and then use dry shampoo to keep the look for a few days. For makeup, I brush on some Jane Iredale mineral makeup, blush, a little concealer on my nose and chin, a sweep of mascara and I fill in my eyebrows. The whole thing takes me about 5 minutes.
