While KFC may be best known for fried chicken, it looks like the fast food chain is now surprisingly breaking into the beauty game. According to AdWeek, KFC Hong Kong has officially released a line of edible nail polishes which draw their inspiration from the chain’s seasoned poultry.

The two nail lacquers come in a beige Original Recipe flavour and an orange red Hot & Spicy shade. Staying true to the brand’s “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good” slogan, the polish claims to be safe for consumption- which means that it can literally be licked.

AdWeek reports that spice brand McCormick (which is responsible for KFC’s secret combination of 11 herbs and spices) joined forces with marketing company Ogilvy & Mather. Apparently, the nail polishes are natural, offer a glossy coat and also have a slight shimmer.

“The recipe for our edible nail polish is unique and was specifically designed to hold the flavor, but to also dry with a glossy coat similar to normal nail polish,” said Ogilvy creative director John Koay, in a statement to AdWeek.

Currently, KFC’s unexpected new beauty venture is only available in Hong Kong. For anyone who is curious about this new campaign, KFC also recently released a YouTube video about the nail lacquers.
