While this past winter may have paved the way for a plethora of colourful beauty trends (such as multicoloured locks and statement nails), Spring 2016 will call for a subtle pop of metallic with opal nails.

Similar to shattered glass nails, opal nails are inspired from the gemstone opal, giving your talons an iridescent and prismatic effect. To achieve this jeweled look, sheer coats of green, yellow, blue, purple and pink are layered on top of thin film strips and glittery nail polish to create a rainbow pearlescent finish.

Although opal nails are sure to add an eye-catching nail accent, this look may also be challenging to perfect if you’re not a nail artist yourself. However, Zinya Langsford, a Melbourne-based nail technician, has created custom press-on opal nails which claim to offer the appearance of flawless crystal talons in no time.
