Barbra Streisand commented on the photos on her website saying: I was very flattered that Jennifer Aniston chose to interpret my style with the photos in Harper’s Bazaar. She’s a delightful person, and I think she did a wonderful job. If only she had a bump on her nose. We agree that if Jennifer had the nose, she could be a Barbra look alike in these pictures. For 113 years, Fullum & Holt have been creating high quality leather goods within Canada. Now in 2010, the company is beginning a new era and hoping to take their brand worldwide. As they did years ago, all products are still meticulously created by hand. And the carefully chosen leather hides come from the same suppliers that provide the hides for the super brands such as Hermes.
Fullum & Holt began in Old Montreal in 1897 as a small quality leather accessories manufacturing company. They produced garters, armbands and braces. As the retail needs shifted, Fullum & Holt changed with the times. For example, by the early 1900’s they were creating military belts for the Cavalry of the Canadian Armed Forces.
In 1946 as the company kept growing, they built their 80,000 sq. ft. factory in Montreal laying the foundation for the company today. Now Fullum & Holt are a high end manufacturer of leather handbags, belts and wallets. They produce bags for private labels such as Alexander Wang and Thomas Pink, as well as have their own line.
This is where Fulum & Holt hope to grow. With brand name recognition. Morgan Lackman, a marketing specialist, has taken over the company from his grandfather and hopes to make Fullum & Holt a global name. And why not? The history, the workmanship and the quality goods are all in place. We are looking forward to seeing a homegrown “Hermes” take a well deserved presence on the global accessory fashion stage. Now if we can just get a bag named after us, we are all set!
See more from Fullum & Holt on their website. You can purchase Fullum & Holt on their website or at Holt Renfrew stores in Canada.
Here at Real Style Network, we like to bring you emerging trends from around the world. In the latest fashion news from Britain, it seems that everyone has to get their hands on a brown satchel bag. According to The Daily Mail, the brown satchel bag has become the IT bag in British fashion. It’s just a matter of time until it becomes hot in North America.
Fashion brand Chloe showed their Louise brown satchel (shown above on left) in their runway show and Mulberry has a similarly styled Alexa bag (shown above on right).
The Chloe version of the bag sells for 9,000 pounds( close to $14,000), but more affordable retailers have been cashing in on the trend as well. Reports say designer imitation bags of the brown satchel have been flying off of the racks. Peacocks, a London retailer, sold 5,000 of their similar brown satchel bag in just 48 hours. British fashion has been on the forefront of emerging fashion and retail trends for affordable fashion with popularity of stores like Topshop and some of the earliest high fashion designer mass market collaborations.
Everywhere you look, it seems that a celebrity is wearing a strapless mini dress. We love the draped white dress that Kristen Bell wore for the Golden Globes. This is not just a fashion trend for the clubs anymore, the fashion trend is making it’s way off the Red Carpet and soon into your closet.
At Real Style Network we have put together some looks above and some tips on how to wear the strapless mini dress.
Choosing a dress in a neutral colour , white, black or the new nude means that you will be able to wear it to any event day or night. White is HUGE right now with lots of celebs wearing the colour, or non colour on the Red Carpet. Black and white will also fit into any wardrobe and the color combo was the basis of Karl Lagerfeld’s fresh looks for his spring 2010 fashion collection. The strapless mini dress is versatile fashion trend and can be easily adapted to daytime and evening looks. Same goes for accessories. Hobo bag for daytime with a cute spring jacket or the new jean jacket. Want to dress it up for the evening? If you are wearing your hair in an up-do try a pair of dangling earrings. Mixed media bracelets are perfect to mix and match your accessories . “ DESIGNER PICKS” is a Real Style exclusive which provides a style guide for the must-haves of the seasons with recommendations from top Fashion Designers .
Our fall series had contributions from Pink Tartan, Greta Constantine, Izzy Camilleri, Jaoffer Caoc. For the Holiday Season DESIGNER PICKS, Real Style has asked these top designers: Smythe, Jay Godfrey and Andy The-Anh for their expert opinion and fashion advice. Last week the designer recommended their must-have holiday outfits for readers. Here are the fashion designer recommendations for the holiday season’s must-have shoes, accessories and outerwear:
Smythe: A standout shoe, boot, or bootie are the best way to make an existing dress or outfit current. Don’t bother buying a new outfit this season. Buy new footwear and make it edgy and tough. Be bold in this department. Look at Nicholas Kirkwood for inspiration. Another accessory that will work with a high-heeled bootie are lace or patterned tights. A jacket with a statement shoulder! This can be worn over a dress or with a skirt/evening shorts and, of course, with any pant.
Jay Godfrey: Jimmy Choo for H&M… high fashion at an affordable price, a J. Crew’s crystal-and-pearl Libretto necklace, and a Moncler Moto Puffer jacket with fur hood.
Here are the Editor’s picks for holiday shoes, accessories and outerwear:
Accessories are the fastest way to update your outfit for the holiday season. As we wrote before, this year has been all about shimmer and shine with daytime sequins, bejeweled embellishments and bold jewelry. I have chosen the Pepper Boot from Karmaloop ($290.00), Max Azaria’s Two Tone Sequined Clutch ($128.00) and the Jeweled Satin Evening Clutch ($149.00) from Forzieri as the choices for footwear and handbags to be the standout accessories for the Holiday Party season. I also loved the classical Greek key design of the Greca Design 14k Yellow Gold Band Ring ($178.00) from Forzieri. You can easily pair the above accessories with your little black dress and look like you have a brand new outfit.
ShopAndy The-Anh’s boutiques and other fine retailers across Canada and the U.S.You will find Smythe and Jay Godfrey at Bloomingdales and Saks and better quality boutiques. Make sure to visit the individual web site for specific locations.
Here is a first look at what some of the accessories such as shoes, boots and bags designed by Jimmy Choo for H&M will look like. As you can see above they are up to the minute in the top fashion looks right now: over the knee leather boots, animal prints, booties.
As we reported earlier in the Canada Style shopping review, H&M was a great place for trendy, inexpensive clothing but the accessories needed improvement. This new high fashion and better quality accessory line should do wonders in improving that end of the business for the retailer. It’s also a great potential new source for affordable designer shoes and bags.
When the announcement came out this summer about the latest H&M designer collaboration, this time with Jimmy Choo to design the accessory line, excitement swept through the ranks of the value conscious fashionistas. With a typical price point of over $700.00 for shoes in the regular Jimmy Choo line, the anticipation has been growing to see what the goods will actually look like come November 14, when the line is scheduled to debut in over 200 H&M stores. Judging from above,it looks really good. The accessory line will feature real leather in the shoes and bags AND the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection will also feature apparel.
This is a first for Jimmy Choo, as the fashion brand does not feature clothing in their own line.
Tamara Mellon, the Founder and President of the design brand said:
“It was H&M’s idea to [do clothes], and as soon as they said it, I really wanted to do it,” said Mellon, who said she has no imminent plans to launch ready-to-wear under the Jimmy Choo umbrella, but added: “Never say never.”
