People will test out some crazy beauty breakthroughs to keep their face looking bright and young. In Britain, the new Carboxytherapy treatment is gaining popularity as a Botox alternative to look out for.
Called a “fizzy facelift” to those in the know, Carboxytherapy is the process of injecting carbon dioxide into the skin. In a story from the Daily Mail, they say this new beauty treatment will tighten skin, reduce dark circles, brighten your skin and reduce fat. It even claims to be able to heal wounds. Is there anything it doesn’t do? Doctors say all of the perks of a fizzy facelift are from the increase in blood flow and oxygenation of the skin .
While the treatment is being used as an alternative to Botox because it doesn’t cause the muscle paralysis and swelling, not everyone is behind this treatment. One doctor says “‘My main concern is that all injections close to the eye can be dangerous, especially if not done by an expert. It has never happened yet, but theoretically, if a bubble of gas got into a blood vessel and travelled to the optic nerve, it could even cause blindness.”
Like always, you should check with a doctor about the safety of any medical procedure, especially one that involves pumping things into your skin. We aren’t quite sold on the beauty changing benefits without seeing it for ourselves.

Audrey Hepburn has been named the most beautiful woman of all time by a British poll. The celebrity beauty and fashion icon beat out Cheryl Tweedy (second place) and Marilyn Monroe (third place) to be named most beautiful ever. From the years of style that has mimicked Audrey Hepburn’s look, it shouldn’t be any surprise. Angelina Jolie, Princess Diana and Jennifer Aniston also made the top 10.
A study has found that people who get Botox injections have a longer reaction time with some emotions. Getting Botox harms your ability to react with sadness or anger in situations. It doesn’t cause any problems with feelings of happiness though. Doctors say it is because your facial expression has a lot to do with creating those emotions in your brain.
A study by P&G, the makers of Pantene, found that the type of shampoo a woman uses directly effects her mood. They found that while a good hair day can make a woman proud and excited, a bad hair day can bring out emotions of hostility, anger and low self-esteem. P&G says they used this information to create their newly revamped hair care line. We have to agree that a bad hair day can ruin everything, but we don’t know if one little shampoo can fight off bad hair.

With all of this talk of young celebrities using Botox before they are 30, we wanted to know if there are any alternatives to the treatment out there. We turned to our skin care expert Dr. Solish for his expert tips on alternative treatments to Botox such as Thermage. Dr. Solish gave us his expert tips on the benefits of both.
When it comes to smoothing out and tightening the skin on the forehead and cheeks, Thermage seems to be a great treatment. Is it a good alternative treatment to Botox?
Thermage is a medical device that uses radiofrequency to tighten the skin. It looks like a laser but actually does not use any light like most lasers making it safe on all skin types and colours. By heating the skin with radiofrequency it can stimulate the collagen to tighten and result in a lifting effect of the skin. Results take up to 4 months to be visible and can last for up to 18-24 months. Botox is used to relax muscled that cause the formation of lines and wrinkles. Botox would be recommended more for lines on the forehead, frown area or crows feet. It can also offer some help for lines around the mouth and neck. Therefore if one is looking for more of a general tightening and mild lifting of the skin Thermage would be something that may be more effective for them. If there are specific lines that bother a person then Botox or fillers may be more beneficial.

Only days after 24 year old Amanda Bynes announced her retirement, rumours are now circulating that the young star has also gotten plastic surgery. It used to be just older celebrities trying to save their youthful beauty that were going under the knife to get plastic surgery procedures. Times have changed and young Hollywood like Amanda Bynes are feeling the pressure to keep their celebrity beauty by turning to plastic surgery.
Amanda Bynes is not alone in the plastic surgery trend. Heidi Montag, Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan are just a few of the other celebrities under 30 who have either admitted or are rumoured to have gotten Botox injections or plastic surgery.
One plastic surgeon from Los Angeles told Fox News, “I think a lot of women feel the pressure to look younger and be at their best. When the rest of the population seems to be younger then you have no choice but to compete.”
The doctor says while there are no side effects to using Botox in your youth, overuse may lead to Botox being less effective in later years (when you might actually need it to conceal wrinkles). Casting agents say they won’t use stars who have changed their appearance so much that young girls can’t relate to them.
A lot of the blame for this change in mindset is due to the excessive partying by young celebrities. The late nights and partying takes its toll on their celebrity beauty, causing them to think they need plastic surgery.
After hearing about Heidi Montag’s 10 plastic surgeries this is a frightening trend that we hope these young stars can keep under control.

Real Style Beauty told you here that Dysport, the new alternative to Botox, was coming to North America. Dysport has finally arrived in your doctor’s office. Americans can take the Dysport Challenge to test out the new beauty product.
Medicis, the company that sells Dysport in the US, is offering $75 back if you don’t love the effects of Dysport after 14 days. If you don’t love the outcome of this wrinkle-reducing product after one injection they will give you the money back. If you do love it, they will give you $75 towards your next injection.
Dysport is the new alternative to Botox on the market in North America for the first time. Dysport improves the look of wrinkle lines by stopping the signal from the nerves to the muscles. Without the contraction of the muscles, wrinkles can’t occur.
Experts say that Dysport shows results faster and lasts longer than Botox, but the two products are very similar and have similar side effects.
If you were considering some type of Botox injections check out the Dysport challenge here.

Do you dread wearing high heels this holiday season? Many women are attached to their heels and won’t even consider giving them up, so more and more are willing to look at alternative way to provide comfort to their feet during those long hours in heels. The answer for some? Botox feet fillers.
Women are using collagen as foot fillers to plump up the balls of their feet and minimize foot discomfort and pain. The only problem with foot fillers (besides the high price tag) is that the treatment only lasts about three months (less than regular botox to the face).
For woman who have done this, its apparently fantastic, allowing them to wear heels for a longer period of time and more comfortably. It’s definitely a step up from buying cushy insoles, but for those of who need to be in heels constantly, it might be worth the expense!

The newest anti-wrinkle facial filler to hit the market is Dysport. Their is a lot of hype behind Dysport with many saying its longer lasting, fast acting and cheaper than its rival Botox. Like Botox, Dysport is injected into the skin and treats deep wrinkles and lines by immobilizing muscles.
There are however, some differences between Botox and Dysport. According to studies, Dysport takes affect in just three days versus the typical seven days it takes BOTOX users to see results. Dysport results can also last longer in some patients versus Botox (this is debatable among some doctors). Dysport is also slightly cheaper than Botox.
Want to give Dysport a try? Visit your dermatologist or specialist for additional info and to determine whether Dysport is right for you.

In a recent interview WWD, Stevie Nicks gave her thoughts on Botox.
“I had Botox and I hated it. For four long months, I looked like a different person. It almost brought down the whole production of the last tour. It was so bad, I would look into the mirror and burst into tears. Botox is becoming the new face of beauty and it’s unfortunate because it makes everybody look like Satan’s children. Everybody has pointed eyebrows. Everybody looks related. All the Desperate Housewives look like sisters. If you’re an unattractive girl who’s trying to be beautiful with Botox, forget it. If you are a beautiful girl who’s trying to be beautiful with Botox, you will look like you’re angry all the time. You’d have to tie me down to get me to do it again.”
