 Real Style: How does chiropractic care work and what are the most common reasons people have for beginning chiropractic treatment?
Dr. Nekessa Remy: Chiropractic medicine is an evidence-informed, non- invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Using our hands for assessment, we provide diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. Most will seek care if experiencing muscle problems
like strains or tightness, joint injuries like ankle sprains
or arthritis or nerve issues
like sciatica or carpal tunnel syndrome. With the use of various manual therapy tools, such as soft tissue work and spinal manipulative therapy, we help patients work towards optimal health.
RS: How can chiropractic care improve your summer? NR: As the weather gets better, more of us are heading outside for activity. From walking to running, baseball and tennis, summer sports
in shape, but can also be the cause of injuries. Chiropractic care can help prepare the body for activity. Since so many of us are sitting for 40 or more hours a week, certain muscles become tight and restricted from underutilization. Through muscle release techniques
