canadian artists have been recognized by the Governor General’s awards in Visual and media arts for their work in
fine or applied arts, film, video, audio, or new media since 2000, and this year eight more will be recognized. Vancouver curator Glenn alteen, visual artist bruce eves, media artist Wyn Geleynse, visual artist spring hurlbut, media artist midi onodera, photographer sandra semchuk, visual and performance artist adrian stimson and ceramics artist Jack sures are this year’s honourees. Governor General Julie Payette will hand out the medallions on march 28 at rideau hall, and the exhibition of their works opens the next day at the national Gallery of canada.

After winning gold medals at the 2018 Winter Games, Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue tour Canada as part of the annual Stars on Ice. Olympians Patrick Chan,Meagan Duhamel, Eric Radford, Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje will also be part of the show that starts in Halifax on April 27.
