FASHION NEWS: Lanvin’s H&M Fashion Collaboration Confirmed

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

lanvin hmThe rumours are true! H&M confirmed the big fashion news that started breaking yesterday. Lanvin will be the latest designer collaboration at H&M this fall.

Following in the footsteps of many fashion designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Choo and Stella McCartney, the Lanvin H&M collection will be revealed on November 2. The first images will be seen in a film on the H&M website. The clothes will then hit shelves on November 23. If you want a piece you should be waiting in line when the doors open, because we know this line isn’t going to last long in stores.

In a press release, Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin, said, “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.”

Lanvin has been one of the most exciting European fashion lines to watch over the past few years. Under Alber Elbaz’ direction, Lanvin has been on the cusp of all the hottest trends every season. It will be exciting to see how they can bring the luxurious fall trends from their line into H&M.

FASHION NEWS: H&M Releases Fashion Against AIDS Festival Collection

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

hm-festival-collectionIn today’s hot fashion news, H&M announced they will release their third annual Fashion Against AIDS campaign to promote their new festival collection on May 20th.

The H&M Festival Collection includes men’s and women’s casual wear. H&M says the line was influenced by the atmosphere and energy of an outdoor summer music festival. The women’s collection has a bohemian rock look that follows many of the current spring and summer fashion trends with flowing printed tunic tops, denim shorts and dresses, fringe dresses, and some metallic pieces. There are a number of tribal and ethnic prints on dresses and shirts. Accessories in the H&M clothing line included statement necklaces, sandals, belts and scarves,.

For the men, the look is very rock star chic. There are a number of different men’s jackets and blazers, as well as jeans, denim shorts and t-shirts. H&M says the men’s line will help any guy look like he’s in a band.

To further hold up the festival feel of the line, H&M will be selling rain ponchos, fold-up chairs, sleeping bags and tents that would be worthy of any music festival.

Prices for the new H&M clothing line range from $12.95 for a cami to $79.95 for a leather jacket.

Twenty five per cent of the sales of the H&M Festival collection will go to youth HIV/AIDS awareness charities like Designers Against AIDS, YouthAids and the United Nations Population Fund. Over its three years H&M have raised $30 million through the Fashion Against AIDS campaign.

See the clothes below and get them in H&M next month.

FASHION NEWS: Jimmy Choo’s Accessories And Clothes For H&M

Sunday, October 25th, 2009
Jimmy Choo for H&M stores shoes and accessories.JPG

Here is a first look at what some of the accessories such as shoes, boots and bags designed by Jimmy Choo for H&M will look like. As you can see above they are up to the minute in the top fashion looks right now: over the knee leather boots, animal prints, booties.

As we reported earlier in the Canada Style shopping review, H&M was a great place for trendy, inexpensive clothing but the accessories needed improvement. This new high fashion and better quality accessory line should do wonders in improving that end of the business for the retailer. It’s also a great potential new source for affordable designer shoes and bags.

When the announcement came out this summer about the latest H&M designer collaboration, this time with Jimmy Choo to design the accessory line, excitement swept through the ranks of the value conscious fashionistas. With a typical price point of over $700.00 for shoes in the regular Jimmy Choo line, the anticipation has been growing to see what the goods will actually look like come November 14, when the line is scheduled to debut in over 200 H&M stores. Judging from above,it looks really good. The accessory line will feature real leather in the shoes and bags AND the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection will also feature apparel.

This is a first for Jimmy Choo, as the fashion brand does not feature clothing in their own line.

Tamara Mellon, the Founder and President of the design brand said:

“It was H&M’s idea to [do clothes], and as soon as they said it, I really wanted to do it,” said Mellon, who said she has no imminent plans to launch ready-to-wear under the Jimmy Choo umbrella, but added: “Never say never.”

Here are some more looks of the items via Daily Mail in the UK. The prices are in British pounds. Click here to get the conversion into Canadian and U.S. dollars.
