FASHION NEWS: Louis Vuitton Is The Most Powerful Luxury Brand

Friday, April 30th, 2010

louis-vuitton-neverfullLouis Vuitton remains the king of all luxury brands. This week the annual list of World’s Most Powerful Luxury Brands was released showing which fashion brands top the high end market. This economy saw many luxury brands suffer, while more affordable priced fashion lines soared in stores. Some luxury brands still managed to make a profit though. Louis Vuitton topped the list again this year.

While the luxury category as a whole was down 3% in sales, Louis Vuitton managed to make a profit of 2% this past year. They say the reason Louis Vuitton saw a rise in sales was because they focused on their heritage as a travel brand, appealing to the jet setting luxury buyers.

Rounding out the top three were Hermes and Gucci. These were the only other two fashion brands on the list that saw an increase in sales last year. These two fashion companies were actually expanding by creating new partnerships and campaigns, while many other companies were slowing down. This goes to show that taking some risks in the fashion world can sometimes pay off.

The top 10 luxury brands are:

1. Louis Vuitton
2. Hermes
3. Gucci
4. Chanel
5. Hennessy
6. Rolex
7. Moet & Chandon
8. Cartier
9. Fendi
10. Tiffany & Co.

CELEBRITY STYLE RED CARPET : Best Dressed At The 2010 SAG Awards

Monday, January 25th, 2010

The colours came out on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. After a nude or white coloured Golden Globe’s Red Carpet, Hollywood celebrities stayed bright and cheery with their fashion choices for SAG. The colour purple, seen in it’s lighter shade at the Hollywood Foreign Press awards, is making a big statement with celebrities.

There were many well dressed actresses, but one dress stood out above the rest. There was no question for all of the fashion sites that Kate Hudson in her Emilio Pucci gown and Cartier diamonds was the best dressed on the SAG red carpet. Everyone from Elle to People were enamored by her. Kate Hudon’s stylist Rachel Zoe might be correct in saying that white is the new black. Kate Hudson wasn’t alone in white. Following her co-star in Nine, Marion Cotillard also looked stunning in white.

Inglourious Basterds star Diane Kruger is another celebrity who is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most fashionable actresses. She has been on many best dressed lists since award season began. The SAG Awards were no different. Diane Kruger wore a beautiful marigold, off-the-shoulder Jason Wu gown and bold red lipstick. Stylelist and Grazia among others added Diane to their best dressed list.

Colour was the name of the game though. Young Hollywood brightened up the red carpet. Everyone was wowed by Glee star Lea Michele in her emerald Malandrino gown. Up In The Air star Anna Kendrick has been avoiding colour on the red carpet until this beautiful purple Alberta Ferretti gown.

We at Real Style Network love the almost weekly display of lovely gowns at the different award ceremonies. It seems to be as much about fashion and entertainment as any actual recognition for the actor’s work. Some purists might have an issue with it, but we think entertainment comes in many forms, including fashion.
