Sometimes it seems like all of the best beauty innovations start in the UK. Now a UK airport has come up with a smart plan to help vacationers look like a million bucks before they even leave the country. People flying out of Gatwick Airport will have the option of getting a free spray tan before they jet off to their destination, so they don’t have to worry about looking so white.
This beauty idea started because so many travellers are uncomfortable about looking too white on the beach on vacation.
Gatwick Glow is the new partnership between the airport and St Tropez to boost vacationers’ confidence before they hit the beach. Offering this service for free is just an added bonus to get you to that airport.
We love the idea, but we have one question. Would the spray tan come off on your clothes during a long flight? It would be even worse to arrive at your destination with half a tan and dirty clothes.
For our latest beauty review, the girls in our Real Style Network office tried out the whole range of new Degree Natureffects Deodorant. We told you about this deodorant back when it launched, and finally have a chance to see if it lives up to the hype.
Degree released the Natureffects products in three natural scents, including honeysuckle and tea tree oil and the fruity orange flower and cranberry. They even went so far to work with Ann Gottlieb, who has created scents for Marc Jacobs and Dior. At first sniff we weren’t impressed. They smelled good, but not like deodorant. We found the smells were too overpowering for something we didn’t want to think about. We like our deodorant to smell pretty sure, but not to overpower our perfume. These scents would have been much better suited to a body spray, which they actually do have, but not in Canada.
One of our Real Style Beauty testers also found that the Degree Natureffects deodorant left marks on her clothing. That is a big downside for the deodorant, but she said she would still use it because it smelled good and did the job.
Overall though, the deodorants do work. So whether Degree changes the scent a little bit, you know it is still going to do its job.
If you want to try out the strong smelling Degree Natureffects you can pick it up at drugstores and other beauty retailers for around $3.99. For now you will have to travel to the US to get the body mist, a trip we just might be willing to make.
A study has revealed that smoking isn’t just a bad habit because of the risks of cancer, yellow teeth and the bad smell. Now smoking has been linked to adult acne, giving you skin care fanatics another healthy reason to butt out.
A study published in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology revealed that women who smoke have higher cases of acne as an adult. Blackheads and bumps were more prevalent with women smokers than all others who didn’t.
After doing the study a doctor involved commented on the skin care effects this study could have. She said, “We will need more products with Vitamin A and alpha and beta hydroxyl-acids to clear the skin along with exfoliating products.”
So smokers with skin care issues should look at exfoliating more often to keep their skin clear. But if you are concerned about your skin care health though, your best bet is just to quit smoking.

We have tried and reviewed, some of the other Dove go fresh products, so we hoped this new scent would be just as good. The new Dove scent that we are so in love with is the sweet mix of pomegranate and lemon verbena. The smell is light and fruity. It makes you feel like summer just by smelling it. It is the new summer scent for at least one person around the office.
The Dove body line comes in a body wash, shampoo, conditioner, anti-perspirant and body mist. The products all work as you would expect from Dove. The bath products are very moisturizing and creamy. The shampoo and conditioner are damage repairing, which is a bonus for those of us who are addicted to the flat iron. The new Dove body wash with their NutriumMoisture is so thick and creamy you feel like you are washing with body lotion, not wash. We could definitely feel the results of the intense moisturizing on even the driest spots.
The scent isn’t actually all that strong in most of the bath products. It’s a shame because we would have loved for the whole house to smell like this. If you fall in love with the smell like we did, it’s the body mist that you want. It leaves the scent lingering on you in just the right intensity.
Yesterday we told you about a new beauty breakthrough face lift procedure involving carbon dioxide that is gaining popularity, but that isn’t the only gassy skin care product you need to look out for. Oxygen treatments are also becoming more popular in skin care routines. If you aren’t into getting gases put into your skin via medical procedures, the new DERMACYTE Oxygen Concentrate skin care line claims to be able to keep your beauty without the surgery.

For our beauty giveaway, Real Style Network beauty blog got to test out the new DeoDry Deodorant from The Body Shop to ensure we were giving away only the best products. We put the Chilled & Breezy Deodorant from The Body Shop to the ultimate test to see if it was up to the challenge.
Our trial period started during a summer heat wave with serious humidity that needed a strong deodorant. We went to and from work, relaxed on patios and even went to a hot and sweaty concert hall to test out the beauty product. Fortunately for us, The Body Shop deodorant exceeded our expectations.
The DeoDry Deodorant doesn’t look like much. It’s a small little roll on package that doesn’t exude confidence when you look at it. We were concerned about testing it in this summer heat. The deodorant rolls on cold and wet, and does take a while to dry. Since it is a liquid, it doesn’t leave stains, which is nice. You may not feel fully protected, you are! While I did feel the need to reapply for my own sanity, I doubt I actually had to.
I have pretty sensitive skin when it comes to deodorant and The Body Shop deodorant is the first product I have used that didn’t leave me feeling uncomfortable by the end of the day.
We would recommend this deodorant to anyone looking for something new.

While the scents are strong, they aren’t over powering. Just opening the box, we were in love with the smell. The natural smells are very relaxing and soothing.
The Rice Grain Soap With Charcoal was one of the most surprising products we’ve seen in a while. Who would think to use black soap? Even when you wash with it the bubbles are grey. Don’t worry though because it leaves you clean and fresh. The exfoliating rice grains in the soap give your skin a great scrub.

At Real Style Network, we noticed a lot of you are looking to get the flawless celebrity beauty and skin of the Kardashian sisters. When it was first announced there wasn’t much more information than that, but now that PerfectSkin is on sale, we wanted to reveal more.

The story goes that the PerfectSkin beauty system was made just for the Kardashian sisters. They wanted skin care products they could all use regardless of their skin type. PerfectSkin was the result of research and testing. While we aren’t sure this is the whole truth and nothing, but the truth, it is a good story.
There are no real reviews of the PerfectSkin system out yet, but we are eager to hear if anyone else has transformed into a Kardashian beauty because of the beauty treatment.

Everyone has their own opinion on the proper SPF level to use. The sunscreen aisles in the drugstore have become seriously intimidating! Every number from 5 to 100 is represented and the prices range just as wildly. We talked to our skin care expert previously on his thoughts on what the right SPF is to use for most people. A story in the Los Angeles Times also examined sunscreen SPF levels.
The experts they talked to found that higher SPF levels only really translates to higher cost for you, not more protection from the sun. Most doctors, including our expert, suggest SPF 30 sunscreen.
S0me people will be surprised to know that sunscreen with an SPF of 60 is not double the protection of the recommended 30. It is how much longer it takes to burn in the sun. Since SPF 45 blocks 98% of the suns UV rays, you aren’t really going to get much better than that.
Instead doctors suggest you focus on putting on more sunscreen all over exposed areas and remember to reapply every few hours. Switching to a high SPF, but not using it properly won’t protect you from the sun any better.

With vacations, trips to the beach and long weekend, this is the time of year that your regular skin care routine may be interrupted by an accidental sunburn. We all try to avoid sunburns by lathering on the sun tan lotion and staying in the shade, but sometimes it happens. We have turned to a skin care expert in our beauty experts section to find out what is the best way to treat a sunburn.
Q: How can I best treat strong sunburn at home?
A: First off if possible avoid the burn. Wear a good sunscreen and clotting to protect yourself. If it is too late then taking Aspirin can help with damage and the discomfort. Also applying mild moisturizers will help with the pain and the peeling that will result from the damaged skin being replaced.

For our contest (that ends today!), we were introduced to a Canadian beauty and skin care company, Beauty Through Balance. Beauty Through Balance is a Canadian skin care company from natural skin care specialist Sherina Jamal. After making her own products for years, she started this skin care company to sell the products in 1995. Now the company has a range of natural skin care lines including a lavender and seaweed line along with spa treatments.
Real Style Network got to try out a few of the Beauty Through Balance Signature Series products before we give them away to you. First we tried out the Seaweed Body Butter, which is in our beauty giveaway. This is the softest, creamiest body butter we have ever opened. In the summer heat, you should probably even keep it cool because it probably melts easily. It went on just as smooth.
We also tried the Glacial Purifying Cleanser, which is their gentle cleanser. This face cleaner is so soft on your skin it doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything. It isn’t until you rinse it off that you see just how clean your face is. I was shocked to see that something so light could clean a day’s makeup. It leaves your skin feeling soft and fresh.
For a deeper clean we tested the Green Tea Seaweed Salt Glow. This is a serious exfoliator for a deep clean. It is a loose exfoliant, so it looks like salt in the jar. Once you get it a little wet it is easier to use. This is a rough deep clean that you can feel working into your skin. For how tough it is on your skin, it doesn’t dry it out. It does leave a little film that you might want to wash off if you have oily skin.
The only thing I would cricize about the Beauty Through Balance products is that their smell leaves something to be desired. If you are someone who wants pretty smelling bath products, I would go for the Lavender scented instead of the seaweed.
Audrey Hepburn has been named the most beautiful woman of all time by a British poll. The celebrity beauty and fashion icon beat out Cheryl Tweedy (second place) and Marilyn Monroe (third place) to be named most beautiful ever. From the years of style that has mimicked Audrey Hepburn’s look, it shouldn’t be any surprise. Angelina Jolie, Princess Diana and Jennifer Aniston also made the top 10.
A study has found that people who get Botox injections have a longer reaction time with some emotions. Getting Botox harms your ability to react with sadness or anger in situations. It doesn’t cause any problems with feelings of happiness though. Doctors say it is because your facial expression has a lot to do with creating those emotions in your brain.
A study by P&G, the makers of Pantene, found that the type of shampoo a woman uses directly effects her mood. They found that while a good hair day can make a woman proud and excited, a bad hair day can bring out emotions of hostility, anger and low self-esteem. P&G says they used this information to create their newly revamped hair care line. We have to agree that a bad hair day can ruin everything, but we don’t know if one little shampoo can fight off bad hair.
If you are struggling with breakouts on a regular basis, the answer is often no further than your kitchen cabinets! Using natural ingredients will give you the opportunity to treat and care for your skin from the inside out, and on top of that, they are seriously much cheaper than many over-the-counter beauty products.
1. Start out by steaming your pores. This is a wonderful way to open up clogged and impacted pores, and it will allow for better product absorption. You can heat water on the stove or in the microwave in a bowl, and then place a towel over your head with your face over the bowl to absorb the steam.
2. Create a mask from egg whites. Egg whites are highly nutritious for the surface of the skin, and they will remove external oils. On top of that, they will naturally hydrate acne prone skin so that your complexion is less prone to breakouts.
3. Make an oatmeal scrub. Exfoliation is the key to preventing breakouts by removing accumulated dead skin and oil from the complexion. You can simply mix in oatmeal with your regular facial cleanser, and it will create an abrasive scrub to remove dead skin cells that can often mix with oil in the complexion to cause painful acne lesions.
4. Treat blemishes. Freshly grind orange peel, and mix it with a small amount of water to create a paste to apply directly to breakouts. This will dry out the pimple and allow it to heal properly for smooth and beautiful skin!
