Our curly haired girls on the Real Style Network beauty team are always on the hunt for the perfect straightener. Three of them got a chance to try the Straight & Curl 2 in 1 Ceramic Curling Iron from Rowenta Beauty to see if it was the one we had been looking for. This is the hair care company who did all of the great looks backstage at Toronto Fashion Week so we had high expectations. Here is our beauty review:
Before After
At first look, we were skeptical of the Rowenta Beauty iron. We didn’t think the straightener was up to the challenge of our thick hair. But the unique designer of a straighener plus curling iron made us excited for the possibilities.
Despite our fears, our hair came out just as smooth and straight as if we had done it at home. Even though the straightener is small, it does have enough power to be able to do your hair in the same amount of time. The heat is perfect to manage even the toughest curls. The addition of a curling iron on the end means that you can curl your ends easily to get a new look.
The Rowenta Beauty straightener’s biggest strengths are also it’s flaws though. Because of the curling iron on the outside, you cannot get a good grip on the straightener. Since it is small, the curling portion of the iron only allows you to grab a small portion of hair at a time. If you have thin hair that is ok, but for us girls with thick locks, we could be there all day.
In the end though for a straightener, it’s all about getting the job done. It may have been a little difficult to maneuver for a newcomer to the Rowenta Straightener, but her hair came out soft and straight.

When Rihanna debuted her new short undercut hair style, we thought it suited the edgy celebrity, but never dreamed it would become a fad. Now hair stylists are saying demand for the undercut hair style is rising.
An undercut is where you shave off a portion of your hair while leaving the rest of your locks longer and more feminine. It is a very edgy look that only the bravest should attempt. The look can go from a subtle undercut that you can hide under longer hair to dramatic looks that really show off the shaved portions of your hair. It’s up to you how far you want to go with your hair style.
According to this story in the Daily Mail the style has taken off thanks to a number of British celebrities sporting the hair style recently.
Apparently the look started in the 80’s when David Bowie sported one of the first undercut hair styles. Now it has launched back into demand after an appearance in fashion shows.
With the heat of the summer, it’s not surprising that women are choosing to shave off their locks for a bit of relief. Short hair styles are great for summer and hey, it will always grow back.
It is so hot and humid this summer that a lot of the girls in the Real Style Network beauty office have been wearing their hair up to beat the heat. In Hollywood we’ve noticed that a lot of the celebrities have chopped their lucisous locks short for the summer sun. Hair stylist Latrice Strader of Destiny De’Ve Hair Salon has offered up some short hair style suggestions straight from the celebrity beauty books for those who can ‘t stand their long hair anymore this summer.
Vamp It Up – We showed you the new hair when Kristen Stewart debuted her short red locks. We thought this light hairstyle really softened this Twilight star up for the summer and Latrice agrees. “Summer is a great time of year to go with a lighter shade,” says Latrice. “This length is perfect for women with a more oval shaped face, who may typically shy away from short cuts” Latrice continues.
Fiery Red Hot Hair – Rihanna also chopped her hair short for the summer and went red. But Rihanna’s red is bright and firey to match her bold outgoing personality. If you are brave enough to rock Rihanna’s hairstyle we salute you. “Bold colors are definitely in this season,” says Latrice. “Shades of red and copper look fantastic on brown skin tones and bright orange adds an amazing pop of color to more fair skin tones.”
Short & Sweet – Hayden Panettiere’s haircut shocked her fans this spring, but the star has learned to work the new hair well on the red carpet. Hayden’s short golden tresses highlight her healthy glowing skin while framing her face with sleek bangs. “Side swoop bangs are very popular right now and look great with a super short cut,” says Latrice.
Low Maintenance, High Altitudes – Janet Jackson shows off her chic hair do that is perfectly coiffed high above her head. Perfect for the red carpet, Janet’s hairstyle keeps her looking fresh and radiant with maximum style in minimal time. “This elegant look works well for many occasions,” says Latrice. “It’s also very versatile and can easily be transformed and smoothed down to an everyday look.”

We are going to file this story under the category of gross hair beauty ideas. A British caterer has decided to make a premium jam infused with human hair. Not just any hair, but the hair of Princess Diana.
Now we know that Princess Diana was a legendary beauty. Her blonde curls and fair skin are a celebrity beauty style that will be imitated for years to come. But eating her hair? Yuck! It probably won’t get you any closer to the fair princess’s beauty.
The Princess Diana Jam was made by Sam Bompas of Bompas and Parr. The company tries to make their food extraordinary, this time they have definitely done that. He bought Princess Diana’s hair on eBay and made the Milk Jam, which you can get now at London’s Barbican Art Gallery.
The hair jam is part of the Occult series of jams which also includes a jam made with sands from the Great Pyramids and wood from Nelson’s ship in The Victory.

If you are looking for a shocking new hair and makeup look for the summer, maybe you can take some tips from the looks shown on the runway for the Christian Dior haute couture fashion show this afternoon in Paris.
For the wild fashion show, John Galliano’s Dior models were styled up as flowers ready to bloom. The runway hair was sculpted to the tops of their heads with little petals pointing out the tops. Just be prepared with a lot of hairspray (and probably some serious extensions) if you want this look at home.
Like the hair, the makeup on the Christian Dior runway was bold, and bright. Models wore vivid eye shadow in bright colours including red, purple and orange. The shadow was boxed and swooped far off the eye. The models had thick long black eyelashes giving their eyes an added pop. Lipstick was generally very very dark red, that looked almost black and brown shades.

Audrey Hepburn has been named the most beautiful woman of all time by a British poll. The celebrity beauty and fashion icon beat out Cheryl Tweedy (second place) and Marilyn Monroe (third place) to be named most beautiful ever. From the years of style that has mimicked Audrey Hepburn’s look, it shouldn’t be any surprise. Angelina Jolie, Princess Diana and Jennifer Aniston also made the top 10.
A study has found that people who get Botox injections have a longer reaction time with some emotions. Getting Botox harms your ability to react with sadness or anger in situations. It doesn’t cause any problems with feelings of happiness though. Doctors say it is because your facial expression has a lot to do with creating those emotions in your brain.
A study by P&G, the makers of Pantene, found that the type of shampoo a woman uses directly effects her mood. They found that while a good hair day can make a woman proud and excited, a bad hair day can bring out emotions of hostility, anger and low self-esteem. P&G says they used this information to create their newly revamped hair care line. We have to agree that a bad hair day can ruin everything, but we don’t know if one little shampoo can fight off bad hair.

Last night, Twilight Eclipse had its big premiere in LA with all of the stars and fans out to show their support. Twilight star Bryce Dallas Howard got a taste of her first big Twilight red carpet since taking over the role of Victoria for the new Twilight movie.

I prepared Bryce’s hair by applying a small amount of argan oil-infused original Moroccanoil Treatment on damp hair before blow-drying to condition, strengthen and protect strands from the heat of the curling iron as well as to eliminate any sign of frizz or static. It absorbs instantly and speeds my blow-drying time so I can concentrate on styling. I love using Moroccanoil Treatment with flat or curling irons when I work because the hair becomes even better conditioned and healthier.
Once the hair was dry, I applied Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to the palm of my hands then randomly finger-combed sections of the hair for natural looking hold. After making a center part, I used a curling iron to form loose, flowing waves that were easy to work and to tuck behind the ears. I then gently teased the hair at the crown to create a suggestion of a Bardot bee-hive, pinned the sides, and left a soft cascade of gorgeous hair flowing down her back. Next, I lightly misted Bryce’s hair using Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for an extra boost of natural-looking shine to reflect her beautiful color, especially in the bright lights on the red carpet. It was important to me to give the hair a luminous, ethereal look, and perfect condition and lustre was essential.
To hold the hair in place without compromising on shine or movement, I finished the style with new Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray, which is blended with Moroccanoil’s exclusive argan oil-infused formula. It sprays on in a soft, diffused mist and I love how touchable the hair feels, as well as so moveable with long-lasting hold that lasts all night long.

Today in beauty news, Avon has announced the release of a new premium hair care line for its customers.
Avon will be relaunching their Advance Techniques hair care line in a whole new fashion. The first product to be released under the Advance Techniques line will be the new Advance Techniques Frizz Control Lotus Shield hair care products. Avon told WWD the new hair care line will repel moisture from your hair and stops frizz for up to 3 days. The Frizz Control hair care line will be available from Avon this summer.
This is only the first of six different types of hair care products that will be released under the Adance Techniques line. Other hair care products will target things like shine, volume, colour protection and damage repair.
While the Advance Techniques line is considered an Avon premium product, the cost is still pretty low. Lotus Sheild will sell at Avon for $12.00.
