Across the country, unique exhibits are popping up now that summer is upon us. A new season means a new collection of works from local and international artists. From an artistic landfill to an exhibit inspired by a legendary artist, a whole host of talent is being showcased. Whether you are a self-proclaimed critic or new to the art scene, you\u2019ll find these Canadian exhibits to be must-sees this summer.<\/p>\n

Picasso in Canada and Picasso: Man and Beast<\/em>, Winnipeg Art Museum, MB \u2013 On now until August 13th<\/sup> <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Winnipeg Art Museum will be featuring two Picasso-themed exhibits in honour of the iconic artist. To celebrate Canada\u2019s 150th<\/sup> birthday, Picasso in Canada<\/em> will feature his works from various galleries across the country such as pieces from the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. Organized by the National Gallery of Canada, Man and Beast <\/em>will feature Picasso\u2019s Vollard Suite<\/em>, a collection of 100 prints that is considered to be his graphic masterpiece. Only a handful of the set remains and the exhibition will be one of the few times the entire suite will be shown outside of Ottawa.<\/p>\n

Galleryfill by Keeley Haftner<\/em>, Tin Can Beach, NB \u2013 On now until June 20th<\/sup> <\/strong><\/p>\n

With the help of local artist-run centre Third Space, artist Keeley Haftner is creating a permanent publication installation project at Tin Can Beach. Using the unwanted works of local artists, she will produce what she calls a \u201cGalleryfill\u201d. This is essentially a landfill, made to municipal standards, that only contains artworks.<\/p>\n

Mix Artists Collective<\/em>, Saskatoon, SK \u2013 June 2nd<\/sup> \u2013 June 23rd<\/sup> <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mix Artists Collective features a collection of diverse artists who aim to showcase not only their art but their skills and humour. Their 2017 Spring Show will be displayed at The Refinery Arts and Spirit Centre and will feature the artists\u2019 new work. Pieces range from paintings to fused glass, making for a unique display of Saskatoon art.<\/p>\n

Olafur Eliasson<\/em>, Musee d\u2019art contemporain de Montreal, QC \u2013 June 21st<\/sup> \u2013 Oct 9th<\/sup> <\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the first time Olafur Eliasson will be showcasing a solo exhibition in Canada. The artist, who grew up in Denmark and Iceland, applies scientific principles in order to explore our relationship with time and space. His works feature experiences that examine body, movement and the perception of self and the environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
