Lonely Planet Picks The Top 10 Countries To Visit In 2020

If you are looking for vacation ideas for your next trip, Lonely Planet has posted their list of the top 10 countries to visit in 2020. From Bhutan, to Macedonia, Aruba and Costa Rica, the destinations they have chosen have a little something for everyone.

The top location on their list is Bhutan, which they call the “real-life Shangri-La.” The Himalayan country is the world’s only carbon-negative country, which means if you are looking for fresh air, you will definitely find it there. The country is also poised to be the first fully organic nation in 2020.

The second country on their list, is surprisingly England. They focused on the English coastline, saying it is “a peaceful place where locals and visitors can enjoy more tranquil pursuits.” From enjoying long walks where you can spot marine life, to eating fish and chips and even finding fossils, England is a beautiful country that doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. They point out that more sections of the England Coast Path will open this year as well, inching it closer to the 3000 miles it’s aiming to reach.

North Macedonia hits number three this year, simply because the country continues its historic rebranding and further separation from Greece. This Balkan nation is well known for its food, traditions and of course its beautiful countryside.

Does it get much more beautiful and relaxing than Aruba? Sitting in the fourth spot is this self-sustaining country known for its rich culture and carnivals. Of course you can’t forget the gorgeous beaches either. It’s where you want to head if you are looking for sitting on the beach and listening to the waves hitting the shore.

The African Kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) is Lonely Planet’s country of choice if you are looking for culture, adventure and wildlife. They are predicting that tourism will continue to climb year after year, and if you are looking to get there before the rush, then 2020 is the year to do it. You’ll find all sort of safaris and parks, and plenty of activities such as zip-lining, trekking and whitewater rafting.

The other countries on the list, in order of appearance, are Costa Rica, The Netherlands, Liberia, Morocco and Uruguay.
