Whether travelling to the 6ix for a quick escape or looking for some unexpected adventure to add to your weekend schedule, Toronto welcomes a host of food festivals and events to celebrate the fresh tastes of spring air. As we prepare to brave the streets after the cold, dark and brutally long days of winter finally come to an end (hopefully soon, anyways!), food is taking over the cultural scene to reunite us all (and our stomachs). From underestimated classics to vegetarian menus, this season’s culinary fests will satisfy all of your salty and sweet cravings, plus leave you wanting more. With an array of mouth-watering dishes expected to hit the city, it’s time to jump into Spring 2018 with lots of flavour. Here’s a list of a few upcoming food festivals and events to keep in mind for the weeks ahead.

Cuisine & Cuvée

The 18th annual Cuisine & Cuvée food and drink event is returning to Toronto’s waterfront on April 20th at REBEL. Known for its food presentation and experience, Cuisine & Cuvée is home to 20 food stations and 10 drink stations. Whether a fan of lip-smacking barbeque ribs or the sophisticated tastes of fine Italian imports, guests can float from station to station in search of the perfect combo. Expected to bring together over 1,000 Torontonians for an all-inclusive evening of food and wine, guests can also participate in the silent auction and raffle all in support of Providence Healthcare.

Sandwich Fest

While there’s no shortage of eateries to grab two buns and ample fillings in Toronto, the Sandwich Fest is bringing together local hot spots under one roof in what is described as the city’s premier sandwich celebration. The often underestimated lunchtime staple will be given the credit it deserves, as vendors showcase their unique twist on this culinary staple. Transformed into a one-of-a-kind marketplace, the one-day extravaganza is set to take place on April 22nd at Artscape Wychwood Barns and will consist of sandwich design and eating competitions.

Veggielicious Toronto

If you’re a fan of the city’s Summerlicious and Winterlicious festivities, then your inner-foodie may be interested in checking this ‘licious festival out too! Described as Toronto’s favourite plant-based culinary experience, the two-week gastronomic fest is set to take place from May 4th to the 21st. Over 40 participating GTA locations will showcase exclusive vegetarian and vegan prix fixe menus as well as other specials. From bakeries and cafes to casual sit-down restaurants, there are countless options for anyone who eats plant-based or is curious about plant-based diets.
