Wintertide Holiday Festival

Get in the Christmas spirit with the annual Wintertide Holiday Festival. This festive series boasts a collection of seasonal activities and events intended to get the city into a festive mood just in time for the holidays. On now until January 1st, the Wintertide Holiday Festival includes beloved activities such as the “Holiday Home Decorating Contest”, the “Festival of Trees” display and live performances of the seasonal classic The Nutcracker as well as local comedy shows.

Self-guided Historical Tour

 Charlottetown is a haven for both Canadian history buffs and those hoping to learn more about the country’s origins.  Take advantage of the plentitude of historic buildings located in the city, each of which play a significant role in the country’s heritage. Must-sees include the Beaconsfield Historic House, a preserved Victorian home and the Fanningbank Government House, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island.

Craft Beer Tasting

Though the majority of PEI’s famous wineries are closed for the season, Charlottetown is home to several craft breweries that offer a glimpse at alcohol production in the province and operate year round. The PEI Brewing Company is home to all-natural craft beer that is brewed right in Charlottetown and offers regular tours of their facilities as well as tastings. Located in the historic downtown of Charlottetown, the Gahan Brewery is located in the former home of a prominent merchant of the 1800s, John Gahan. A tour of the brewery today is details both the historical significance of the building as well the brewing process at the location.  

Confederation Centre

The Confederation Centre of the Arts is the hub for all things cultural in Charlottetown. Home to both an art gallery and a theatre, this imposing centre is dedicated to inspiring Canadians to celebrate the country’s origins, “through heritage and the arts.” Their longstanding exhibit, “The Story of Confederation,” is a replica of the original Confederation Chamber, where the 1864 Charlottetown Conference took place. Upcoming events include a week-long run of comedic musical “Robyn Hood” and an art exhibition featuring sculptures and paper work by Canadian artist Rachel Beach.
