1) Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto: If you’re a city girl at heart, what better way to ring in the New Year than by celebrating in Canada’s largest city? Every year, City TV hosts a street wide free concert in downtown Toronto where crowds can dance to live musical performances of the year’s charting hits from featured artists while enjoying an evening skate under the twinkling lights of Nathan Phillips Square. If you get hungry from rocking out to the music, street food vendors sprawl the vicinity of the square for a delicious midnight snack. Count down along with fellow Torontonians and bask in the colourful display of fireworks once the clock hits midnight.

2) Queen Victoria Park, Niagara Falls: The falls aren’t the only sight to see come New Year’s Eve in Niagara Falls. With live outdoor entertainment set to hit the stage in Queen Victoria Park, enjoy a night of singing and dancing to musical guests while vibrant fireworks illuminate the sky amidst the multi-coloured falls. The spectacular lights and scenic falls will make for a romantic midnight kiss.

3) Quebec City, Québec: Drive down to Quebec City with friends and kick off the New Year with a large outdoor bash amidst the bustling streets of La Grande Allée in Quebec City. Traditional music will put you in the celebrating mood and if you’re feeling cold from the chilly winter breeze, the party atmosphere and dancing crowds will sure warm you up. Although the outdoor bash takes centre stage for this event, make a pit stop at one of the heated terraces and outdoor bars along La Grande Allée for a taste of Quebec City. Finish the night with a ferris wheel ride to take in the city skyline.

The Ottawa city streets are enlivened with the TD Hogmanay Scottish New Year’s Party by City Hall. This Scottish-inspired festival brings the rich cultural celebrations of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile with highland dancing, scotch tastings and Scottish food. Count down to the New Year and watch the Maple Leaf Drop along the city skyline topped with the best showcase of fireworks.
