Go See A Movie At Toronto’s Sail-In Cinema August 20 – 22

sailincinema

How cool is this? PortsToronto is once again putting on their annual Sail-In Cinema at the city’s Sugar Beach, or Lake Ontario depending on how you plan on watching it. It’s the 4th year for the event, and like previous years, it is completely free.

Movie lovers are invited to watch Ghostbusters on the 20th, The Goonies on the 21st and E.T. The Extra Terrestial on the 22nd. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for pre-show entertainment, and around 8:45 (or dusk) the movies begin. In case you were wondering how the movies are shown, well that’s simple, a two-sided screen is set atop a barge in the Toronto Harbour, and fans can watch the action from Sugar Beach’s shore, or from their boat out on Lake Ontario.

So what’s this mean? If you have a boat, sail on up and drop anchor. If you are more of a landlubber, bring a chair or cushion, or whatever you’d like to sit on and pick a space on the ground.

You need to register for free tickes if you hope on seeing a film though, as the event has become extremely popular. More than 6,500 people and 90 boats are expected to show. You can do so at sailincinema.com.
