4 Amazing Free Things To Do In Vancouver This Spring
It always seems like spring arrives a little earlier in Vancouver than it does in the rest of Canada, which is why it’s the prefect spot to head when you are looking to thaw out. If you want to get a little spring fever before it comes to your city, here are a few things you can do in Canada’s biggest city on the west coast.
Enjoy the Cherry Blossoms: Cherry Blossoms start coming out in mid to late march, and the entire city of Vancouver celebrates their arrival for most of april. This year the Cherry Blossom Festival runs from April 2 – 29, 2015.
Visit the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden: This beautiful garden was named the World’s Top City Garden by National Geographic, and after taking a step inside you will quickly see why. Some of the features include the jade green pond, koi fish, a collection of 150-year old miniature trees and tai hu rock imported from China. The garden may be open all year long, but there is no better time to visit then the spring when everything is starting to bloom.
Take A Hike In Stanley Park: One of the most biodiverse parks in the world is in the heart of Vancouver. From hiking trails, to an aquarium and a zoo, this park was named the best in the world by Trip Advisor in 2014. There’s really something for everyone here, especially if you are looking to relax.
Go Shopping At Granville Island: This tourist hotspot was once a manufacturing area, and in it you will find all sorts of souvenirs, fresh fruit and vegetables and tasty treats. You’ll find a farmer’s market, local buskers, improv shows, and even glass blowers. It’s best to arrive early however, because it gets crowded pretty quickly.
