The Perfect Table For A Chic Holiday Get-Together

No holiday party is ever complete without having a perfect table scape. Whether you are hosting a quite dinner for four or going all out and hosting 12, the perfect table will have your guests feasting with their eyes before they fill their bellies.

Now, we’re not talking about breaking the bank and buying all new flatware, I have some tried, tested and true points to make on the subject that will ramp up your holiday style and still leave room in the budget for dessert.

  1. Always start with a simple white tablecloth.

I have quite a few on hand, all different sizes depending on how many people I am hosting. I don’t think you can ever have too many. A simple white tablecloth provides a neutral base for you to create your gorgeous table.  Remember to choose a high-quality linen or cotton one that will be handle several washes (and potentially some bleach if the party gets really messy).

  1. Choose a colour palette

This year, I am all about blush pinks, whites, golds and coppers. Metallics will always be appropriate for the holidays, so I always go with one other colour to introduce every year. Introducing this accent colour with small accessories keeps me on budget and on trend.

  1. Fresh flowers are a must

No party is ever complete without fresh flowers. Simple whites always do the trick, with hydrangeas and freesias making an elegant statement. They are classic and provide just the right amount of fragrance and texture to your table.  Layers with your on-trend colour accessories, you can’t go wrong.

  1. Try something different

I am a big fan of using something surprising on a table scape, something whimsical and maybe even weird. Manazinta branches are sometimes a little rustic however, placed in simple white vases with ornaments hanging off them, create a sculptural surprise. I also love how you can still see through them so they are not a full block of vision.  Also instead of using just one table runner, use three and put them across the table width-wise.

  1. Leave your guests with a gift

A good guest will always bring a little something for the host/hostess but I also feel like for the holidays to give a little something to your guests (in addition to the fabulous meal of course). A little holiday keepsake like an ornament is a great gesture. On the place setting or off to the side on the napkin, it add another fabulous layer to the table and your hosting skills.
