How To Pick A Pillow For Restful Sleep

We sleep for approximately a third of our lives so it only makes sense that you’d want the best pillow to rest your head. Depending on a few factors, you’ll need a certain type of pillow so that you can get the best rest.

1. Find out how you normally sleep • Side sleepers will need a firm pillow for head and neck support, while stomach sleepers should opt for a soft pillow. Back sleepers can go for a medium to firm pillow.

2. Pick a pillow based on size • A six-foot-tall man and a five-foot-tall woman probably won’t use the same size pillow. That’s why retailers make different sizes for pillows – small, medium and large – because one size does not fit all.

3. Choose a material • There are tons of materials to choose from – from feathers, down, polyester fibre, polyurethane (memory foam) and organic materials (like buckwheat hull). Rather than feathers and down, most pillows are hypoallergenic.

4. Personal preference • Even though you may need a firm pillow, you may prefer a soft pillow. Test out a pillow for at least a week to see if it’s the right one for you because no one product works for everyone.
