With New York Fashion Week officially kicking off yesterday in the Big Apple, the runways have revealed an array of edgy, mysterious and gorgeous styles for Fall 2016. While the shows are just starting (with only Day 1 and Day 2 of the catwalks so far), a fierce design aesthetic has already emerged for the season ahead.<\/p>\n

At Nicholas K, co-designers and sibling duo Nicole and Christopher Kunz unveiled a desert inspired yet urban collection that channeled the Arcosanti desert community of Arizona. On the runway, this translated into rebellious leather bandanas, sleeveless leather vests and slouchy black and white trousers. Models strut the runways in flowing printed bohemian tops, neutral layers and oversized beige outerwear.<\/p>\n

Designer Marissa Webb stayed true to her signature aesthetic of wearable dark neutrals interspersed with subtle, polished prints. For autumn, Webb\u2019s latest collection featured sleek black and white plaid coats, styled with black trousers. Crisp white blouses, checkered tops and lightweight floral frocks also made a grand entrance on the catwalk.<\/p>\n

At BCBG Max Azria, chief creative officer Lubov Azria turned to music and arts for her sartorial inspiration, and used David Bowie, American Bandstand<\/em> and Flashdance <\/em>as her muses. Azria managed to combine aspects of boho chic style with glittering, form-fitted looks. On the catwalk, shimmering leggings with cut-out detail were paired with blue pinstriped blouses and cozy grey knits. Colourblocking, puffed sleeves, cropped jackets and dark quilted designs were featured as part of the line.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Adam Selman turned to the dark underworld of American crime to inspire his Fall 2016 collection of dark wash denim, fitted white printed T-shirts and bulky puffer jackets in shades of navy blue. The designer (who said to Vogue.com<\/a> that he is a fan of the Netflix series Making A Murderer<\/em>) turned to mystery to create a line of darkly chic looks. He closed his show with an ethereal, vampy black gown with a daring V-neckline and a sheer hem.<\/p>\n
