With the Pre-Fall 2016 collections officially unveiled, the latest looks for this transitional season showcased an array of bold prints, flowing hemlines and contrasting colour schemes.<\/p>\n
At Christian Dior, the fashion house\u2019s collection director Michela Kalb stepped up to the plate after former creative director Raf Simons parted ways with the French label. In a shift away from Dior\u2019s usual glamorous creations, the Pre-Fall looks offered wearable silhouettes, tailored outerwear and plenty of neutral hues. Meanwhile, the occasional funky print or pop of colour brought new life to the collection. From a bright green textured handbag to shoulder-dusting statement earrings, ladylike detail was also on the menu.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Valentino turned to international inspiration and featured a line of Japanese and African inspired looks. Creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli displayed a striking collection of embellished frocks, vibrant prints and edgy fringed leather jackets. From kimono style toppers to rich red hues, the designs featured exotic detail and accents.<\/p>\n
At Alexander McQueen, creative director Sarah Burton channelled the retro elegance of the 1930s and 1940s for Pre-Fall 2016. This translated into luxurious silk dresses, gowns with sheer panels, metallic touches, dramatic ruby red furs and dainty fluttering sleeves. Staying true to the rebellious McQueen aesthetic, quirky lipstick prints, bold cuffs and striking embellishment were also statement looks.<\/p>\n
British designer Stella McCartney unveiled a presentation in Los Angeles which brought the world of rock and roll to mind. The designs on display included wild faux leopard fur coats, quirky cat prints on a three-quarter length coat and trousers and plenty of oversized knits. For a glamorous touch, a fitted black pantsuit, sheer hemlines and flowing tulle detail also made a splash.<\/p>\n
At Emilio Pucci, creative director Massimo Giorgetti modernized the Italian fashion house\u2019s signature eye-catching patterns, with cool rainbow hues making their mark on elegant outerwear and dresses. From bright yellow prints to shirtdresses in dainty pastel shades, colour was certainly in style at Pucci.<\/p>\n
