Toronto Fashion Week 2015 Designers to Watch
Next week mark’s the beginning of the highly anticipated World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week at David Pecaut Square. Canadian fashion lovers and industry professionals alike have been waiting for the chance to get a peek at next year’s collections from some of Canada’s top designers, and now the chance is near. Here are our top picks of who to watch for at World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week, including both new and established Canadian designers.
Joseph Mimran, designer of Joe Fresh, is known for his stylish and affordable apparel. His clothing is always bright and crisp with lots of orange strewn through it. We can only imagine that will be carried out into his Spring/Summer collection.
The beloved Toronto label certainly never lacks on the word Tartan, with many of the designs normally featuring the plaid print. Designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran’s collections are known for practical and affordable luxury clothing. Switching gears to Spring/Summer, we can expect a great collection of sophisticated sportswear.
Design duo Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan are known for their luxury outerwear and creating jackets with a stylish twist. The designers threw a pop of colour into their fall collection, with some hot pink outerwear pieces – perhaps a hint to what colour we’ll see in their Spring/Summer collection.
Montreal-based fashion designer Brit Wacher is a newcomer to Toronto Fashion Week. The inspiration behind her designs springs from elements of fantasy. Her fall collection, which was very avant-garde with exaggerated shapes, left us anticipating what her Spring/Summer line might bring.
Michael Kale is known for his use of sexy leathers, cut-outs and his great attention to detail. The colour palette for his fall line was bright and kaleidoscopic, aspects that will most likely be carried into his Spring/Summer line.
