Karl Lagerfeld Sued By New Balance For Copyright Infringement
Karl Lagerfeld is in hot water over his use of the letter K.
The Chanel designer’s recent foray into shoe design has been seen on the red carpet on Kristen Stewart and Rihanna. But according to TMZ, his logo on the shoe has led to a lawsuit from sneaker company New Balance. They claim that Karl’s use of a large capital ‘K’ on his running shoes is too similar to New Balance’s ‘N’ logo which they’ve had since the 70’s. Both letters are in the same large font and thus could cause confusion amongst shoppers.
Apparently this was noticed by quite a few fashion blogs with one titling their article “Wait did Karl Lagerfeld just knock off New Balance sneakers?” New Balance wants to stop any sort of similarity and defend their brand.
