Mastering The Floral Print Trend
Mastering the floral print trend has never been this easy- magpies and maximalists rejoice! This spring, designers like Mary Katrantzou and Comme des GarÇons took a page from sculptors’ playbooks to create extravagant floral prints adorned with appliqués, crystal details, ruffles and other 3D embellishments. Christopher Bailey’s “English Rose” collection for Burberry Prorsum best illustrated the floral print trend, showing a sorbet hued collection adorned with oversized 3D appliqués that undoubtedly caught the attention of Hollywood A-listers, like Sienna Miller, who were seated in the front row. Another titan of florals, Oscar de la Renta, showed flourishing prints worthy of the Elizabethan court and grand dresses enhanced with cascading tulle and chiffon ruffles that had models looking like gorgeous, life-size flowers from Alice in Wonderland. For those less willing to live in OTT bloom, embellished accessories like floral embroidered handbags or headpieces are an easy way to embrace the floral trend without suffering a perennial overdose.
