Milan Fall 2013 Fashion Week Begins With Gucci, Ferretti & Fendi
The eyes of the fashion world have moved on from New York to London and now to the luxury of Milan Fashion Week. Some of the most legendary fashion houses will be gracing the catwalk with their fall collections. Real Style editors are in Milan catching as many fabulous shows as they can get to. See some of the top shows highlights here:
For fall, Gucci offered a very sexy take on the retro theme. Imagine if you took the fashion of Mad Men and turn it to leather and python prints. Fishnet stocking were worn with sheath dresses featuring slits and deep v necks. Exaggerated hips and metallic prints made for a saucy secretary feel. The evening wear was more glam ’70s though with silk pants, sequins and feathers joining the dark colours and leathers. Watch the Gucci fashion show here:
Albert Ferretti wanted to create a fall collection that was definitively her own this season, which meant that we were brought all of the romance of a classic Ferretti design in every pieces. Stunning long gowns in organza and lace in black and white floated on models. Short dresses were sweet and lady like all with a retro feel of proper ladies with high neck jackets, fitted riding blazers and cinched waists. The show was capped by black and white outfits, but the middle was filled with cocktail dresses, coats and skirt suits in vibrant primary colours. See Alberta Ferretti’s show here:
Karl Lagerfeld brought a whimsical feel to the catwalk with his fall collection for Fendi. Models with fur headpieces walked the runway in clothes that looked so fun to wear. Matching striped fur tops, skirts and bags made us dream of wrapping ourselves in fur. Pop or bright neon colours livened up the runway with a pink coat and blue skirt demanding attention. While other more subtle pieces in black and white filled out the sleek separates. See images of Karl Lagerfeld’s fun Fendi fashion show here.
