Lanvin, Dior, Gaultier and Givenchy Show At Paris Fashion Week

The top fashion houses in the world were heating up the runways of Paris this weekend during Paris Fashion Week. Take a look at the highlights from some of the top names in fashion now:

Last year Lanvin celebrated their 10th anniversary, so now Alber Elbaz started a fresh new decade. Lanvin brought together a number of influences for this show that was dominated by black. From menswear inspired tuxedos to sexy silk dresses to sequin jumpsuits to 80’s inspired statement shoulders, Elbaz showed how versatile black can be. The show was very sexy as only Lanvin can be with plunging necklines and body hugging dresses. The show ended with a handful of silk dresses in bright rich jewel tones. We imagine we will be seeing all of these red carpet ready dresses on many celebs soon. Watch the Lanvin fashion show here:

Christian Dior

Raf Simons made his much anticipated ready to wear debut at the helm of Dior this season. What a debut it was as Simons reminded everyone that it is about the fashion, not the scandal. The inspiration behind the show was freedom, allowing Simons to dabble in a number of things. Blazers were transformed into full-skirted mini dresses and candy coloured minis floated down the runway making day and office wear sexy. Cute cocktail dresses came with big stripes, bright near neon hues and shimmering fabrics. For evening Simons mixed the femininity of Dior’s printed skirts with the minimalism he is known for in a winning combination. It all came together in a womanly collection any modern romantic would be envious of. See highlights of the Dior show here:

Jean Paul Gaultier

Gaultier reminded everyone that fashion should be fun too as he paid homage to pop stars of the 80’s for his collection. They were all there in fine form on the runway. Suits reminiscent of Grace Jones and Annie Lennox marched down the runway. Model flaunted it in sexy lingerie and statement bras a la Madonna.  Long braids, Japanese inspired kimonos and flowing prints reminded you of Boy George. Michael Jackson-esque fedoras and jackets were worn over bikini tops. Body suits and metallic fabrics of David Bowie stood out. It was all fun for a show and it will be interesting to see how these costume-y looks get translated to the street and red carpet. Watch Gaultier’s fun show now:

Ricardo Tisci said he was going back to Sixies couture and the founding of Givenchy for this RTW collection. It was all very modern and silk. Large ruffles on collars and hemlines never felt fussy, but sculpted and sophisticated. Shoulders were sculpted on suits and dresses. Most of the looks were black and white with pale shades of beige and blue offering highlights. See highlights from the Givenchy fashion show now:
