Fashion Trend: Sheer Lace Dresses Rule The Red Carpet
Recent red carpet fashions have been high on the seductive sheer lace looks we saw on superstars Beyonce, Heidi Klum and Rooney Mara. The songstress, model and mega actress all dropped jaws at the annual Met Gala 2012 in gowns with sheer lace overlays. As fashion trends go- it’s from runway to red carpet to store. What this means for you? You will have your choice of sheer and lacy gowns, tops and dresses to choose from come the fall and holiday season.
Heidi Klum was another star who went the lace route in deep blue Escada to show off her coveted lean figure. The appeal of a dramatic long gown plus the sex appeal of a mini-skirt underlay was the key to the lace trend at last night’s fete and kept it light, modern and spring-ready. Heidi certainly showed sheer and skin in spades in her blue dress.
On Monday we gave you a close look at Beyonce’s stunning lace feathered body-baring Givenchy ensemble, one of the most impactful looks of the entire Met Gala 2012. The new mom showed that her curves need not be kept under wraps in the nude, black and purple feathered confection. Black shimmering lace overlay over a nude mini-slip and compete with cacasding ombre violet feathers, this gown needed to be worn with presence and Beyonce certainly has that.
Rooney Mara was one of our picks for favourite look of the night and, no coincidence, she also donned lace-overlay Givenchy. Our spring magazine covergirl Rooney looks amazing in a mix of feminine-meets-edgy, and this rich black lace-and-leather one-shouldered Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci number seemed to illicit just the right amount of dark dangerous sex appeal. Rooney Mara has done it again, this time in lace, and we’re glad she did.
Love sheerly lavish lace? So do we. Not bad as trends go, of course you might consider donning a longer slip under all the sheer sexiness…or not, the choice is yours!
