Top Designers Heat Up The Runways Of Paris Fashion Week
All weekend Paris has been getting a taste of Fall 2012 as designers showed during Paris Fashion Week. Here are a few of the top fashion shows:
Riccardo Tisci brought back the equestrian trend in the Fall 2012 show. He updated the look by combining it with a sexy 70’s theme. The dark black and brown leathers gave the show a very gothic twist. Bright reds, silky midnight blue and mustard yellow added the few hints of colour. Leather dominated the show through tall riding boots, accents on jackets, kimono style coats, gloves of all lengths and leather dresses adding a dark sex appeal. Givenchy showed a masculine/feminine mix by pairing bow blouses to men’s suits and flirty skirts with structured tops. Eveningwear came with a twist adding a boudoir feel with lingerie inspired dresses. Watch highlights from the Givenchy show here:
Hermes changed their usual riding theme into a take on the nomadic traveler. Large blanket shawls, fur outerwear, knee-high leather boots, oversized wool coats and tribal-like prints all gave the Hermes collection a worldly feel. While many of the coats and pants were oversized there was still a chic style to them. This was a smart, no nonsense woman who felt just as comfortable outdoors as she did in a three piece suit. Nothing was too feminine and it had a casual sharpness to it. See the Hermes collection here:
This weekend Alber Elbaz celebrated his 10th anniversary at Lanvin by hosting a party. He said he didn’t want this collection to be a retrospective, but instead a look at what he enjoys designing. Elbaz emphasized womanly curves through skirt suits, dresses and belted jackets. Some of the dresses overemphasize curves through structured skirts, peplum and full skirts, while others hugged the body tightly to show a model’s true curves. The dresses came in a variety of colours, but leaned more heavily towards the dark and elegant. As we neared the end of the collection the models were practically dripping in jewels with embellishments and statement necklaces grabbing attention. See Lanvin’s celebratory collection here:
