Did Mad Men Inspire This Long Glove Trend?

Mad Men is back this weekend and your favourite retro-inspired styles are back onscreen, as well as on the runway and your favourite celebs. We aren’t sure if Rihanna and designers DSquared and Moschino adapted the Mad Men leather glove style to create their long gloved looks seen here, but whether it’s pure coincidence or not, we love the result.

Rihanna stepped out at the Brit Awards in February in a sparkling Givenchy gown and long, deep bordeaux coloured leather gloves. Her sparkling metallic dress evoked the retro Hollywood bombshell feeling with those up-to-there gloves and down-to-there neckline.

Then, most recently in Milan for fashion week, we saw the luxe, retro long leather gloves come to life once more. Canadian design favourites DSquared showed leather gloves in many of their old-school bad-girl-at-school looks and we loved their take on retro. Moschino was another designer who took to the past for this hand-warming, arm-length leather glove craze. We’ll be tuning into Mad Men this season for more retro looks we can turn into right-now fashion trends.
